Current time: 12:50 pm (Atlantic) - 11:50 Eastern I just spoke with Ellen and Harry at the Hospital......It was difficult talking with her...understandable becasue her mouth is dry etc and she's still being medicated.... They're hopeful that the surgery on her hip will be done today. Harry tells me they're gonna do an epidural etc (not put her out). He had nothing but POSITIVE things to say about the way she's handling e'thing! (That's our Ellen!) The anticipated recovery time "in" the hospital is 5 days - 2 weeks depending on how she does. So; let's keep her in our prayers and positive thoughts....... this is a "B" of a time to be outta commission....especially for her becasue of the love she has for her kids and grandkids. ALSO; and I ran this by Harry, and he said she'd be "tickled" by it. The Hospital has a "Healing Words" service....people can e mail to patients and Volunteers deliver the messages. PLEASE NOTE however; they don't deliver on holidays and only when the Volunteer Svcs office is open. What I'm saying is that if you're gonna send her an e mail....please do it ASAP. Here's the info you need..... Ellen Hodgson Oshawa General Hosp Room 6629 Even if they move her it'll catch up to her..... Here's the link to send her a note of love and encouragement.... Let's show her how much she's loved shall we? www.lakeridgehealth.on.ca/survey/public/survey.php?name=Email_a_Patient_copy

Wonderful that they are going to do it using an Epidural. There is absolutely no need to use a dangerous general anesthetic for most procedures.
Too bad they won't go and get that nasty gal bladder out while she is numb.
Remember this people, in case you need a surgery some day. Insist if you are aware enough to put up a fight or have a loved one be an advocate for you.
Well wishes going out over the INTERNET and I'll be sending a card too.
