. I'm a little hesitant to post something about my wife. Especially since she's trying to hide her current health status from me. Being Saturday and her test day is soon approaching, I figure why not. Every little prayer and support might help...
During the last few weeks, I noticed the a funny looking birth mark on my wife's back was suddenly growing. She went to the doctors and they removed it. Luckily, its sampled cells were normal. However, the 4 stiches were removed a few days too early and her quarter size hole split open. She is now "scared for life" - with a quarter size hole in her back. Luckily, this hole is on her back - where people don't see it.
During their "growing birth mark" investigation, her doctor also discovered that her thyroid gland has lumps. To our surprise, three large lumps and one small lump. A specialist called yesterday and her long needle biopsy appointment is schedule for this Friday morning. Since cancer risk is high in her family genes and high in my family genes (and our oldest son already had to battle cancer at age 5), I'm worried. Very worried. Battling cancer within our family was "too hard" on us the first time. We don't want to battle it again.
Would appreciate your prayers and support - for my wife's health and future biopsy test results. A wonderful "innocent" lady who needs our help....
thanks.

Spike, sending prayers your way and also a little info. I had my thyroid removed due to numerous tumors, some growing down my windpipe and thankfully none were cancerous. IF it is cancer the cure rate is extremely high and most times there is no cancer. I have had this scare and know what your going through. Please try to stay calm and take one day at a time. You and you family will be in my prayers.

Dear Spike,
Your entire family will be in my prayers and thoughts, I admire you so much spike, the deep love you have for your family shines as bright as the moon on a clear night. I had my thyroid removed 5 years ago, the only good thing is if it is cancer, god-forbid, thyroid is the most curable cancer in the body, not saying this is a good thing, the surgery was not plesent. Bless you all, and keep you in good health. Love Linndie

Many thanks for your prayers and positive support. Very much appreciated. Biopsy "test day" is still counting down. Only a few more days to go. Then, we'll probably have to wait a week or so for test results to come back. I'll let everyone know of my wife's progress as news comes our way... Hopefully, its only harmless Thyroid Nodules/Lumps - as explained within: thyroid.about.com/cs/nodulesgoiters/a/nodules.htmDo keep your fingers crossed and my wife in your prayers. Much appreciated. . .

. Update - from today's specialist visit My wife got her emergency thyroid biopsy done this morning. We won't get the full biopsy test results back for another 10-14 days. During the afterwards consultation with her specialist, her doctor explained that surgery must be done. They need to remove either half or the entire right side of her thyroid gland. Won't know full surgical depth until full biopsy test results are back. Luckily, everyone has 2 thyroid gland areas (vision a butterfly shape at the base of one's inner neck). re: content.revolutionhealth.com/contentimages/images-image_popup-thyroid.jpg Her doctor feels that her remaining left thyroid portion will provide enough hormone support for her smaller sized body. Just like a small body can still 100% function with only 1 of its kidneys. If current thyroid lumps are from cancer, then onto Plan B. Plan B won't be discussed until today's biopsy tests are known. Will share more details as time goes on... .

. Update - from today's specialist visit.
Today, my wife visited her thyroid specialist - to obtain the results of her previous biosy tests. The previous needle biopsy test was "inconclusive". Meaning. They are NOT sure if massive lumps in her left side thyroid are from cancer or non-cancer reasons. They have now booked my wife for urgent surgery. Within the next 1-2 months, the specialists are hoping to remove 1/2 her thyroid (through 15 cm / 6" cut mark at bottom of neck), and perform "on lab bench" indepth test (of her removed 1/2 thyroid). If non-cancer, they will leave the other remaining 1/2 thyroid "as is". If cancer, they will go back in and remove the other 1/2 of thyroid, and immediately bombard the body with chemo - to kill any cancer cells that my be floating around. For now, we are in a "wait & act" mode. Wait for their phone call - advising when my wife's urgent surgery is "locked in". And, we start going down Plan A.
Would appreciate if you continued support for my wife. We're hoping Plan A. RE: Simply remove 1/2 her thyroid and remaining 1/2 portion can support per body ok. No additional surgery & chemo is required. We're hoping for a simple in & out with following "good for life outcome". Your support (knock of wood, fingers crossed &/or prayers, etc. etc.) is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Hi Spike, Prayers for your wife coming from Gwen and I. Plan A is definitely preferred but remember that Plan B has a good chance as well, even if a lot more worrisome and uncomfortable.

.
Update:
My wife is still waiting for "the phone call" (since Jan 30th). A call stating when her urgent thyroid (1/2) removal surgery has been booked. They told us it would take 1 - 2 months (at the max). So far, we've been waiting 2.5 months and still no phone call. In my region, one gets free health care. But, even the urgent folks must wait for it. Wait much longer then one should. Like an airplane on "E" circling the airport, we keep waiting and waiting. Hopefully, we'll get the landing details soon. Especially for my wife's urgent need. And hopefully, its only lumps from non-cancer cists.
Please continue to keep my wife in your prayers. Much appreciated.
