Weather report will help lung patientsMar 19 2007
Madeleine Brindley, Western Mail WEATHER forecasting is being used to predict when people suffering from chronic lung conditions could become ill.
The initiative, by the Met Office, alerts patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and health professionals when there is an increased risk of their symptoms worsening.
The warnings are issued when weather conditions change and when there are respiratory infections circulating in the community.
The service was developed in England and is not yet available in Wales, but the Met Office is investigating expanding it to both Wales and Scotland.
Clare Bryden, manager of health research at the Met Office, said, "Everyone with COPD has their own risk factors but they are fairly stable, over time, and only the environment aspect will change.

Larry,
Wow I would hope that the U.S. would get this also. That would really help. And I know for me when I was first dx it was hard to know what would bother me and what wouldn't. This would really help in so many way. Thanks Larry.
