John posted this y'day.
"I'm going to try and report what's going on of interest, daily if possible. After 15 days in the hospital I was released about 24 hours ago to the Rehab setting, where I'm to be for probably two weeks of therapy. I'm pretty severely deconditioned, and yet to do any real training, but better than I was. A week ago, for example, to make a trip from bed to bathroom, about 12 feet, took three rests and my sats were 77 at the end. And that was in 6 liters of O2. They kept me on 6 liters 24/7 for most of my stay, and I'm still on 5 here at the Rehab place. But by the time I left I could do the b-to-b trip in one swoop and end up at 88; so some of it comes back. It'll be interesting to see what happens now that I'll be getting focused therapy.
One thing that's slowing me down is the dried blood/mucus mix that has to be coughed up and out--the blood left over from the operation a week ago Tuesday that scarred my lung back together (Google chemical pleurodesis). This proced8ure was a choice on my part to reduce the probability of a recurrent pneumothorax. They tell me there is some gain from it for p to a year. And my pulmo says there's no reason I can't eventually get back to where I was. March 31 I'd done my usual mile in a half hour on the treadmill. Then April 1 I had the pneumothorax. "
