-- I noticed this term on another site and knew it was also listed on my hospital sheet as being performed, but never really understood what it was. I just googled it and it says that the Doctor removes a layer from an organ. I'm assuming that they peeled a layer from my lung, which would help it to stick to my chest wall so it doesn't collapse anymore. Am I getting the meaning of Decortication correct? Also, it took my lung an awful long time to seal - would this have been part of the reason for that???

Ladies ; I don't know if this will help out or not but give it a try. Here is a web site I use a lot to find out about procedure or medical terms that I don't understand . Go into (MedicineNet.com)And type in decortication .Your going to see that you & Pres. Clinton have something in common If You read his story I think it might help you understand what was done to you & why ! again hope I helped
