I'm glad you brought this up Mary. Personally; we have it EVERWHERE; Large pump bottles (also in oiur car)and the small ones we refill. I remember just recently reading an article about that (like the one you posted) .....let's face it, many of us are dependant on hand cleaners. Personally I use Purel though I sometimes use the "no name's of LARGE grocery stores if they state the amount of germ killing action (i.e. 99%) and/or the amount of Alcohol in the solution. For all you Dollar Store shoppers.........there's is a s is a no no. Check out Mary's link to see if your store/sanitizer is in the mix.

Hand washing is our number #1 way to prevent illness. We cannot afford to be sick.
I have a real hard time breaking the habit of getting my hands by my face. We need to not do that. Our hands pick up the germs and then we spread them. This is always stressed in rehab over and over.

I agree Miss Mary,
But, My pulmo refuses to use them and ask those of us that wear o2 (oxygen) not to use it either. Because of the one thing you need in it alcohol. Which can and has sparked a fire. My RT also says the same. I keep a small jar of Liquid dial and water. And that is what I use in the car and everywherel
Happy Trails

I'm not sure how it might spark a fire unless it's around something that might, and even so I would think it would only be a problem "before" it dries. They have Bottles of it everywhere in the hospitals and clinic here and believe me it's more "alcohol" and less conditioner added than anything.

Jackie, that is right. We have holders of Santizers on the wall in rehab and so many tanks around. We don't permit smoking and we have even discussed (altho strange) the fact that we cannot have lit candles on the birthday cakes we bring in. That is true but posted it sort of as a laugh.
It is much better than the handwashing. Handwashing is VERY important though.
