Hi Everyone..They called me from my respirolgist's office May /2007 to advise I finally have my appointment at Toronto General Hospital. I didn't say anything at the time because I wanted to wait for the paperwork to come because she said there were four appointments for that day. Today the paperwork came from Toronto General and wow. I have to be there at 9:30 am on Thursday June 14/2007 for a pulmonary function test, then at 11:30 am a VQ scan (lung scan),then at 2:30 pm 6-minute walk test, and then the appointment with Dr. Waddell. Going to be a fun day . Hopefully I will have some answers and some information to share, and also hopefully I will find some positive information about the balloons. I hope linndie's Dr. was wrong, and that indeed they do help.

Coco,
I am so glad you have you appointment. Do you have your list of question for the doctor? If not there is a list to go by here on the forum under General.
And about the balloons I did them and my RT told me to stop they were of no use that if you were doing your breathing exercises like I had been taught. I haven't blown one up since. But, you know it one of those things that is To Each There Own. What may not help me May be just the ticket for you. They are cheap try them they sure can't hurt. Find something that works for you and use that is the best advise I know to give you.

Happy Trails Rosemarie Hi I'm sorry Morningstar I should have been more specific, these are balloon type stents that are placed in your lungs to open up the damaged airwaves so that the trapped air can get out. They insert them by way of a scope and from what I understand you are only in the hospital for a couple of days if that. Something along the lines of an angioplasty for your heart I think. That is what I am hoping for as opposed to the LVRS. Way less invasive and to me why not give it a try before doing radical surgery... I will ask lots of questions, so that I will have answers not just for myself but for everyone. This hospital I will be going to is a teaching hospital with a great reputation.

Coco....you make darn sure you keep us abreast of things. Please. Personally I've not known anyone who's had this proceedure done. It will be interesting to read about it.

Arlene Muffin you made me cry over that one. I told my husband that I really wante to win millions of $'s on the lottery, so that I could put the money into research for people like us, people with liver disease and people with heart disease, cause I truly believe that with the stem cell research they will soon be able to grow new organs for damaged ones. I don't mean through fetus's I mean from skin cells....Then we can all be given a second chance to enjoy our lives....I hope I have not offended anyone with my comments, as I know it can be a touchy subject.

Coco, I can't speak for everyone But you have NOT offended me. I truely understand what you are saying. You are the one to be admired for your attitude and the caring I have seen here on this forum. I seen where you have your grand's tomorrow. That releases you from TM's gazelle and weights because with out a doubt they will make you use even muscle you didn't know you had. So Hi Ho Hi Ho. Happy Trails will be waiting on the grandkids report
