Is there not a drug they are using in the UK that they are in the process of doing their fda thing with? I think I want to say it is symbacort (?spelling) but I'm not quite sure. I go to my pulmo in a couple of days and I want to ask him about it. Although I don't think he is very aggressive at anything so he'll say steroids don't do emphysema any good. I know I read about advair at one point that said it did good for 6 months. Since I had to reformat I lost all my links so have to ask . Couldn't save anything as something was corrupted and nothing responded. Back to case at hand (I seem to rattling today) is it symbacort? thanks to all Arlene

Arlene Symbicort has been around for a few years in several different countries. (I see you're in the U.S.....it's my understanding the drug will be available there soon if it isn't already) It's an inhaled cortisteroid; basically a combination of an anti inflamatory and a long lasting bronchodialator. (Lasts up to 12 hours) It was initially developed I believe for Asthma however it's of great benefit to COPDer's. Here's a couple of links that may help you out www.symbicort.com/article/508158.aspxwww.astrazeneca.ca/en/news/release.asp?id=2003052201Personally I use it; have for 2+ years and I think I'd be in serious trouble w/o it. Good Luck, Jackie

Hi
I am a bit confused here. My Mother had psoriasis on 90% of her body. And was given steroids creme to put on it. One of those was Symbicort creme. Which did clear up the psoriasis for a while but then as with all things it stopped working and she went on to a different one. What I don't understand I know this will be inhale but I wonder if it is the same drug. She was only allowed 1 tube a month because of what it was. I guess it has nothing to do with COPD really but I sure know how it cleared that organ up and to think a inhale verision of it may do the same for the lungs is in did a good thing.
Happy Trails.

I would say its a different medicine or strength, I have used it for over 3 years, I see it as my useful med.
