As it turns out I didn't have her number BUT ..... I was able to track a bit down. Just a brief update here on what I've been able to ascertain and I HOPE to speak with Kathy in the morning..... As of a few days ago; Lionel was doing much better (the latest info that was available) ; they've been weaning him off the vent. ( T-piecing takes time and patience believe me) Kathy's been spending most of her day and evening with him. Now you know what I know..... like I said I'll try and make contact tomorrow or the next day. The woman's GOTTA be exhausted! Keep those candles burning with love and good thoughts and prayers. Jackie

Thanks for the update.
Kathy you are strong and I know this has got to be draining on you. I am so glad the news is upbeat. I sincerely wish that Lionel continues to get stronger each day. My thoughts are with you.

I had a nice chat with Kathy (lovely lady) before she headed back to the hospital. It's been a bumpy 3 weeks and she wanted me to apologize to all of you for not getting back on. She's been spending a LOT of time at the hospital; not getting home till late plus family has been coming and going. Undoubtedly tired. I told her no need; we all understand but we have been worried.
He had 5 tubes in; 2 are out; 3 are still in.
Anyway; Lionel is now getting up and walking a bit; he's been weaned off the vent; they've corked (capped) the trachea so that he can talk etc and I believe she said they would be introducing foods in the next couple of days after he's had the swallow test.
His lungs are working good. He has to build some strength back up.
I extended our love and told her we'd continue holding them in our hearts and prayers.
He still has a way to go BUT I think he's on a better track now.

Sometimes it is slow going after a serious operation. Kind of like learning to walk, one step forward and two back. Just know all your cyberspace friends are sending healing vibrations and prayers your way. Healing hugz from the bears den.

I'm glad you were able to talk with Kathy. Funny how quickly you guys become people I care about. We could all be in Lionel's shoes so can appreciate how Kathy and Lionel must be feeling.
I wish it was a couple of months from now and everything was going perfectly for Lionel, any pain gone, breathing like a newborn, really enjoying life. I can imagine that the time is passing slowly for you, but when you look back you'll see it wasn't all that long after all.
Prayers on the way for both of you!
Sue
