Many people buy from ADC and others in India, they offer good products and good service, but be warned it is still a good idea to have the advice of a doctor. nz.news.yahoo.com//070525/2/j26.htmlSaturday May 26, 07:20 AM Death shows danger of internet drug buying National (a political party) is raising concerns about buying prescription medicines online after a Blenheim man died as a result of overdosing on anti-depressants he had purchased from India on the internet. It is illegal in New Zealand to have prescription-only medicines which have not been obtained with a prescription. Marlborough's coroner has expressed concern the pills in the Blenheim case made it through the mail system and past Customs. National's Associate Health spokeswoman Dr Jackie Blue says people can import drugs, but need to prove to Customs they have been prescribed by a doctor. She says it is a concern this did not happen in the Blenheim case. Dr Blue says with a proliferation of drug advertising in the form of spam email, people are likely to try to buy more medication online. She is calling for an education programme on the dangers of self-medicating.

I agree with you Larry; one should be cautious. This article doesn't say if the man had a prescription (unless I missed it) or if he was self diagnosing /treating. If such is the case it's possible he was at fault himself. In Canada it's illegal to bring in meds, whether you have a prescription or not. So; when you do it's a crap shoot as to whether or not it gets past customs. I've even had a shipment opened one time and they allowed it through but the postman had to collect $30 in tax no less. They (customs) classified it as vitamins and allowed it through .

I understand he had no prescription. So many of us buy from overseas, mainly because of price, the danger is we could buy meds that clash with ones we have already. A docs advice is worthwhile.

I only buy what my doctor has prescribed for me. Should I be concerned that they might clash? Arlene

Thats the right way to do it Arlene, your doctor knows what you take, so a clash is not going to happen, he will make sure of that. I even tell my doctor what OTC I take.

I have everything I take including (my vitamins as they can interact with some drugs), all over the counter drugs, wrote down, and my doctor was given a list, and hopefully he didn't just discard it.
