Last June I had my annual scan for my Abdominal Aortic aneurysm now 6.5, I saw the surgeon a few weeks after my scan & he said he couldn't do any thing for me because of my Emphysema I asked him about EVAR surgery & he said you have to be fit for this type of surgery as well, so I said I would like a second opinion & got one. I have just been to see this Vascular surgeon & he said he could do the surgery but was concerned about my chest & thought it might be best to leave it,but he's going to get me a CT scan & then discuss it with me again at a later date. Has any member had EVAR surgery, I would like any information, is it a painful procedure ( I am a coward when it comes to pain ) How long do the stent grafts last, or is there a down side to this operation.

Hi Ernie..... after reading your post I went looking for more info and though I'm not finished, I did find something of interest for you (there's a fair bit of info on the preocedure and outcomes etc) from SW Texas Methodist Hospital - Experiences with EVAR Hee's the link www.ircst.com/handler.cfm?event=practice,template&cpid=11288 It appears the stent is left indefinitely (unless I misread) I'll see what else I can find for you later on. I know we have several members here with AA's though I'm not sure if any have had the surgery.

I know this is a scary time, Ernie. I hope the new surgeon is able to help you. You are in my prayers.
PS, I'm a chicken when it comes to pain, too. I think we'd be masochists, otherwise.
