You might find this interesting (meant to mention it awhile ago)
This gene and disease progression study I'm in...as I mentioned calls for a CT scan every year. i had mine (it was the one they messed up with by not checking reporting the results). Normally; at laeast here in Canada you don't get a scan for the sake of "checking" things....there has to be a reason thus a lot gets missed I'm sure until problems becaome more "obvious".
Come to find out.......there's 14 people in the study I'm in at the hospital/resp. clinic. Of course we all have COPD at various stages. Of those 14; 7 came back with questionable CT's (something was seen). That's 50%
Does this mean that maybe we should be thinking about the possibility that maybe ALL COPDer's should have a scan ?
Something to think about wouldn't you say?

It is something else that needs us to start advocating for. We should be getting yearly CT scans as well as X Rays just to keep track of how we are doing. We need so much more than what is being done now, and only we can make this a reality. The hell of all this is~~If we do nothing that is what we get and deserve, but on the other hand if we become more vocal and press a few more buttons, as the old saying goes, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

My doctor feel that all former smokers should be screened with CT.
He said the insurance companies don't allow it unless a chest x ray shows questionable results.
