I haven't been sleeping much lately..I wake up sob and even though my ox level is in the high 90's...Last Thursday my BP went up, I have always had a very low BP about 110 over 70. but it went up to 143 over 83..I was very swollen ..my feet and legs hurt real bad.. I took a lasix, lost 5 or 6 lbs that night.next mourning Went to see my husband's doctor since mine was on vacation..He did blood work, and sent me to the hospital to get ex-rays of my chest..Today i will have an echo cardiogram. He thinks it might have something to do with my heart..I will see my Pulmo Doctor Wed. This doctor will try to have all the test ready by then..I was wondering if any of you have had this experience.Any info will be appreciated.

Virginia; Bear went through something (similar maybe?) recently though I'm not sure about his BP. If he doesn't see this post I'll jingle his bell . Plus maybe someone else can add some info here. I know you're aware that e'one has minor daily up and down BP changes so that in itself isn't cause for concern (although that's a bit of an increase for you.) It's when your BP goes up and stays up over a period of time.....Additionally if you're tired (sounds like you are) and/or ill, that too can cause an increase. Plus you were obviously retaining water. Having said that however......I'm pleased he (the Dr)had an x ray done, did the bloodwork and I'm even happier that they're doing an Echo. Let's hope it's only gonna be another, and a temporary, "bump in the road" and that they have some answers for you this week. Prayers going out to you Virginia.....keep us posted please

I was SOB a couple of weeks ago, went to emergency department and was diagnosed with fluid on and around lungs. This was confirmed by stethascope listening and an x-ray. I am on 2 forty mg of Furosemide daily anyway and all they did in emerg was to up pee pills to 5 a day. d**n near wore out bathroom rug coming and going. I do not want to scare anyone but you may have CHF. Congestive Heart Failure caused by backup of fluid in lungs causing heart to work too hard trying to get oxygen to body. I have had 5 or 6 of these CHF's and been hospitalized for each. Scarey but you learn what causes it. Mostly bad life style. If you want or need any more help on this PM me, okay. Hugz, bear.

Fluid buildup around the heart and lungs will cause SOB, so it's good that your husband's doctor is having you worked up. I would also ask him to refer you to a good Cardiologist.
Even if the Cardiologist finds nothing, the work up will be done and you won't need to worry anymore about heart problems.
Feel better soon.

Yes Virginia, That is what I have just been through shy the hospital stay. But loosing 3/4 pounds in just a matter of days. And Like Bear says healthy life changes here alsom. Salt intack is a big big part of it. Just listen to what the doctor tells you and don't do like I do. Get to eating all the wrong things. My thoughts and prayers are with you Virginia. Rosemarie

It is good to check but the chances are its nothing to worry about, my GP sent me to a cardiologist recently, he said the heart is fine, shame about the lungs .

I'm not quite clear on all you said. Like a blockage in your neck where? I certainly hope that the medication takes care of it. Sending you prayers and good vibes.

Virginia, you may want to ask him to send you to a Vascular Surgeon ASAP.
I had a ultrasound of my carotid arteries and it was misread by the cardiologist and radiologist. They said I had a 80% blockage in one and a 64% blockage in another. I high tailed it out of town to a real good vascular surgeon who did another ultrasound and he found that there was no blockage at all.

Gosh, Linda how would someone less well versed in these subjects ever know enough to do what you did. My husband spent 18 months and none of the tests indicated a blockage. The Heart Institute with the MRI scan found 90% blockage and confirmed with angiogram and they did the Stent. That was only because some guy at rehab told my husband about a TV ad at the Heart Institute. Just how does anyone really know what to do. Virginia, You know you are in my thoughts and prayers and on my mind. Breath easy. Virginia, you may want to ask him to send you to a Vascular Surgeon ASAP.
