I was informed that Virginia Sasser (member of this forum and the Network) has been admitted to the Flower Hospital in Dothan Alabama. I've known Virginia for awhile; a really sweet gentle Southern belle. She's been battling an infection for the longest time and they've not been able to clear it up. So.... they've put her in the hospital and have started pumping the IV anti's. BTW; Virginia also took part in the LUNGevity Walk in November. Her picture was in our December's Newsletter for those of you who are curious..... www.copdcanada.ca/Newsletter%20January%202010.pdf(There's a few other member's pix there as well.) Anyway; I'll be sending Sarah over and I hope to talk with her later. She could use your prayers and positive thoughts. Let's also extend the same for Bobbi that she continues along her path to better health and comes home very soon.....

Praying for the anti's to do their job ASAP, and a fast recovery for Virginia. Also keeping Bobbbi in my prayers, that she gets that infection cleared up and is back with her 'boys' soon.

Thanks for letting us know about Virginia, Jackie. Prayers are sent up for a solution and end to her infections. It does seem like it's been a long time that she's been dealing with it. I guess we do what we gotta do.
We didn't hear back from Bobbi yesterday afternoon/evening and I was wondering how she was doing. Not like her to not pop in and say goodnight. Prayers for her, too.

It took a few attemps to connect with Virginia today.... they'd moved her to another room. She told me it was an OB room.... right. We had a laugh about that one I'll tell ya! You know though.... she was sounding stronger. She had a full day of visitors (grandosn and all). Virginia and hubby (Doug) live2 hours from the hospital so it's gotta be hard considering the distance. Anyway... she sounded really decent all things considred.
Bobbi..... she was a card today as well. She had them write down and she spelled out what the bacteria was that she had.... pseudomonas auruginosa; Anyway.... she was in GREAT spirits though wanting to get sprung... but... the additional good was that they've identified the current bacteria. I'll let you guys Google it if you want. I have my theories.....
Hearts, prayers and all things good going your way Ladies! Now; we just need you to get home soon before the weather gets too warm! ;D

Short on rooms, are they Virginia? With my prednisone belly, I'd fit right in visually. Glad you are starting to feel better. Take it easy and don't rush things, you've been sick for a while. Interesting, and worrisome, about Bobbi's infection. I wonder about all the different antis the dr.'s been having her take for months re: drug resistance. Hope they're giving her the probiotics, too. I always take them when on an anti. At least they are a step closer to putting an end to this cycle. Hope you're feeling a little/lot better, Bobbi.

John.... you are a kind & loving, gentle soul!
Just briefly casue hubby's cooking dinner and I still have the culinary duties to perform (empty the diswasher :-) I'll put this first cause you're NOT gonna believe it ( I asked Vrigina if I could include it)
What with it being her b'day today...... one of the nurses brought a cupcake in (c/w lit candle!!!!!!) for her to blow out. She's on oxygen of course!!!! Well; I guess another nurse saw her "on the approach" and yelled stop or something...... Thankfully nothing happened or went further. God love her (them both!)
Anyway.... she tells me that the Dr said it might be another 5 or 10 days. She asked if Hospice is something thet she/they should be looking it. Fortunately.... he said "no" You're not ready for that yet. Anyway; we did have some chuckles (it wasn't a glum conversation).... she "loves you all"
Hmmmm Bobbi.... might be coming home tomorrow! They're suppose to give her lessons (and her daughter Rachel I think as well) as to how to do the anti's at home. She's on GREAT humour and looking forward to touching base with e'one again.....
I can honestly say that I enjoyed the conversations with them today........ I can't believe the good humour they're in considering the circumstances....
And... from them to you...... BIG HUGS and THANKS!

Wow, that was a close call for you Virginia, you would think nurses would know better. Glad to hear that you don't need a hospice. So happy for you Bobbi, that you might be able to come home, even with the anti's. Hope Rachel can handle this for you. Rest well.

What a picture of Virginia and the cupcake and the running nurse. Slow motion...Noooooooooooooooooooooooo Glad she was able to laugh about it afterwards. You must have felt relieved that you're not ready for hospice yet. Continue to be a good girl and hurry on home all better and ready to go.
Bobbi, sounds like you'll still be getting antis by IV? The guys at your house will do just fine doing it there. Hope you do get to go home today.
