I'm still scratching my head; still checking all my spiro and pft tests these past few years (I've had more than the norm in spiro becasue of the studies). I've only had 2 PFT's. My numbers (most of them) are better if you can believe that. And no ...I don't have an asthma component. I'm a novice though I can interpret decently well. BUT; these blow me away for a number of reasons. The past five days, I've flown, been in meetings, I've gone through the 48 hours w/o meds including the withdrawl etc and they're still pretty darn good for me.....granted I've some air trapping (hyperinflation) etc but my DLCO is pretty decent. Is there anyone out there who is VERY good at doing a comparative for me (much better than I can?)Sorry; I'm still surprised and need to review them further. BUT; guess what I did soon as I finished? ?? Took my proper med fix and I sure can tell the difference with my body. I "suspect" it has to do with the inhaled steroid portion in Symbicort. Had to have it I tell ya!

Not sure there is an expert Jackie . When they say "Its how you feel" they mean it, two years ago I could get out of the shower and dress without SOB. One year ago I would say I get SOB sometimes. Now its everytime. My numbers remain the same.

I don't know any experts either, Jackie. My Pulmonologist said it all depends on how you feel. He doesn't pay all that much attention to numbers either. Three years ago I was able to hike at altitude in Glacier park. Now it would kill me, I think, and the numbers are not that much different. Go figure.

Isn't that weird??? I know they all say "don't worry about the numbers, it's how you feel that counts" but bloody H if that's the case why even do the numbers to start with ? All of this is too darn much. I do however suspect it's the CB aspect of my disease that has been affected/helped by the Symbicort.

Maybe they "bother" with the numbers to justify their fees. That is quite a pricey test. You are right about the inhaled steroid, they help tremendously. We have yet to get Symbicort here but it's going to be released soon. I'm anxious to try it to see if it works better than the Pulmicort and Foradil. However I only use Foadil once a day, so we shall see.
