Has anyone here tried them? Do you find them more comfortable and do you get as much oxygen delievery by using them?

I've been reading about them for a year or more and think I would try them if and when the need for Oxygen occurs.

I went to a "02 on the GO" meeting last week and there was a lady there that had them on. She said she loves them and would do it again. Looks very good with the 02 not hanging down in front of you.
She said that there is only one man that sells them here in Las Vegas. She said they cost $900.
They do have a web site where they tell you all about them.

The poor lady in Las Vegas got ripped off!! I have used them for years and basically I am happy with them. The frames with a clear lens cost about $250 which you normally buy direct from Linda's link above. Apparently some (esp. the big chains refuse to put lenses into anything but their own frames) They are the only cannula that I use during the day. Sitting I don't normally use O2, and standing I need glasses! So I just hang them round my neck using the hoses behind my head (just like the cords you attach to ordinary glasses if you don't wear them all the time). I started using them because I lost the upper part of one of my ears and an ordinary cannula wants to slip off - so this was not a vanity thing at all! I originally had some problems with the stiff hoses, but switched to softhoses (from Chris Thomsom at www.softhose.com ) and solved that problem. I found them very uncomfortable using 4 l/min continuous (the tiny little nose-hoses tend to 'jet' causing a burning sensation), but they are fine at 2 l/min. They work fine at a setting of 2 or 3 on my Spirit liquid oxygen portable, but setting to 4 or 5 does not give me twice as much as at 2 or 3 probably because of the restriction of the tubing of the frame and nose hoses. I will try to help with any other questions if anyone has them.

Boy she sure did get ripped off. She did say that her son (which is a doctor) (she had to throw that in) had paid for them. Maybe thats what he told her for some unknown reason or maybe she just misunderstood him.
Anyway, I am glad to learn that that is not the cost.

They sound great to me. And from what I read I would like them. And if I ever get a chance I will try a set of them. Thanks to Linda for the Link and Chris for the info.
Happy Trails

Thanks e'one and Linda for the additional link. Maybe we'll hear from a couple more folks.
Betty: when I first read your post I though OMG!!!!!! The cost!!!!
Then Chris you said yours were no more than what a person basically might pay for a goodset of eyeglasses BUT more importantly they work and you like them.
Now.............if we only had a picture :-) Other than the gal in the advertisment brochure.....:-) :-) :-)
Any volunteers?

Chris,
You have been such a sweetheart with helping me with my letter and such. Maybe if I just ask that with Jackie's hint you may let us see them in use.
Thanks Rosemarie

Hi, I have a pair of the Oxyview glasses and have had them for a couple of years. I paid $250.00 and had the lens put in at Walmart Optical with no problems. I think that cost about $100.00. Sheila

Care to update us on how things are going for you? as for the glasses; that seems like a "reasonable price" Did WalMart have any trouble working with them? Have you got a picture of them in use on you?

O.K. Here's Sheila (Auntiemame) with her Oxygen glasses....(click to enlarge) Thanks Sheila! Heck I wouldn't have known you were using O2 if I hadn't seen the hose in the 2nd photo. Are you sure it's connected to the eyeglasses ? Thank you so much. I'm really surprised! (BTW; you don't look too bad yourself )

Boy you're well preserved Chris.....somehow I imagines you kinda stooped over and gray . I think I'm like and agree with Linda on this one (after seeing you and Sheila with the glasses) If I needed oxygen this would be the way to go. I know what Sheila paid in the US.......what did you pay Chris? AND; are they as effective in the 02 delivery?

These glasses are really impressive. I need to read more about them. Thank you Sheila and Chris for sending your pictures. It gave us all a much better idea of what they look like and more of a close up view....Joyce

I don't really have any more information on the glasses than I posted here before - see reply #6 in this thread. You can get latest prices from their website www.oxyview.com and the cost of lenses depends on your needs and choices from your optometrist. Chris
