I'm asking for a few extra prayers for Liz, my daughter. She has an appointment with a rumetoligest on Wed. and the thinking is she has fibromialgia. I am hoping that this visit will give her the start to the path she will need to get some pain relief. She is in so much physical pain that it makes me cry to see her try to walk some days. This on top of her other issues, (which we are told often go hand in hand) is just too much to handle some days. Thank You so much for giving me a place to talk and be me with friends. Mary

Mary..... thank you for sharing with us. And; you're right.... we're all friends.... even those who simply pop in to read. I too hope this will clarify some things for her. They've learned a lot about fibromialgia in the past 8-10 years. I see this as a new door opening for the both of you! That's a PLUS don't you think? Love, prayers and positive thoughts going out to you both Mary.....

Maybe a diagnosis of something will finally bring some relief. Like Blossom said...they've discovered different treatments. She will be in my prayers.

Just to know why she hurts so much will bring some relief by itself. She's going to the right kind of dr. to dx fibromyalgia. I will keep her in my prayers, and you, too. I know how helpless you feel.

Mary - I pray that all goes well for Liz on Wednesday. I can only imagine how much she hurts. I know that there are many new treatments for Fibromyalgia? and a number of new drugs - so hopefully they can find something that will help her quality of life. You are in my thoughts and prayers

Thank you all so very very much. The power of prayer worked it thing again. Liz has a DX of fibromyalga, and arthritis in both knees, left hand, right ankle. We went from the rhumetologist at TGH to her physc. at TWH they are changing one of her drugs Effexor to Cymbalta gradualy over the next month and will hook her up with pain clinics and warm water pools (?) in the fall. As her physc said 'go to the trailer, enjoy the summer, then we'll move on these other therapies. So, I thank you for all your prayers, a path was opened for her, to begin working of pain control, as there really is no cure for the fibromyalgia.

Mary, glad to hear about Liz. I noticed the drug change they made for her. In March I went to see my family doctor for just a check-up and renewal of prescriptions. I was on effexor 150mg. for depression , but just didn't feel right with it. So he gave me samples of Cymbalta 60mg. that I am still taking and I really feel better, have more energy and not wanting to take a nap everyday now. I feel more myself. I wish her the best of luck and hope the 2 of you have a wonderful summer at the cottage.

I am so glad there is a proper diagnosis and a plan of action for the future. What an emotional relief for you and the family and a very big relief for Liz in so many ways. I wish her the best of luck with therapy and hope everyone can try to enjoy the summer at the trailer.

I, have a close friend that I used to work with that has fibro. and arthritis. She was put on Cymbalta a couple of years ago and is doing much better. She also goes for weekly massages that she says helps, along with pain meds. They do warm wax treatments on her hands which are severely deformed, and she is only my age. She used to be on those Fentynal patches and is off them now since the Cymbalta. It took years for them to decide she had fibro., frustrating painful years.
I am so happy for Liz and hope she gets the relief she so deserves. I'll bet this is a big part of her troubles.
