 all, My name is Shawna (Phil's Daughter) Phil was rushed to emergency sunday afternoon. He was fine at 3:20pm and 3:40pm we were calling 911. Dad was short of breathe, chest pain and slipping in and out of conciousness(sorry about spelling) when ambulance arrived his oxygen level was 50%. When we arrived at emergency they did an x-ray which showed his right lung was 100% collapsed,from there he had a chest tube inserted. We were then transferred to Queen Elizabeth Health Sciences hospital. Dads blood gases were done and his co2 level was up to 140,and amazingly they are now at 56. Dad is stable ,but not out of the woods yet. Dad had some trouble yesterday and recovered . Today has been a better day for him . Dad has great 24hr care in the step down ICU. When I know more I will be back to fill you in. |

Shawna, Thank you so much for telling us about your Dad. We were all getting very concerned. Your dad was probably breathing much better after having the chest tube inserted. I've had this done twice and it really helps. I'm so glad your dad is stable now. Please tell him he's in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated.  |

Hey Shawna...I can only stay on a minute....bad connection for me down here. I was worried this a.m.....called & left a message for you at home earlier(prior to yours here).....I was concerned (I know Phil's aware I'm away I'm away); maybe you are too?.....
My heart and prayers are with Phil and your family. Good Lord willing I'll be home tomorrow night....
Shawna....stay strong and positive you hear? I know that you are (strong)and that's a blessing for e'one in your immediate family..Speak up and speak out; just as you have in the past about whatever he's needing...you have a good grasp of things. O.K.?
I've a 4 hour layover tomorrow in T.O. I can hook up and I will on the net so send me an e if you can/need......whatever...I'll also check in here later tonight.
Till later....tell Phil I was in touch please and my thoughts and prayers ae with him and all of you....

Sendings prayers your way too Shawna, and thanks, as always, for the upates. If your Dad gets to wanting to go home at some point, try not to let them send him home too soon. I posted to your Dad in the other section. I want you to know that I also am sending prayers out for you and your family for comfort and strength during this more difficult times.  |

It's wednesday afternoon,Dad had a good night. The X-Ray he had this morning showed there was more improvement ,but there is still an air leakage in which he needs to get rid for his lung to fully expand.
The medical term for what he had is called a Tension Pneumothorax.
I will definitely keep updates but it is sure hard to get a computer here.
I might leave for an hour today (big maybe) and if i do I will post again.Thank _you everyone for all your prayers.

I did call you Sunday night (I forgot you were away) You can call my cell when you arrive home. I have it on vibrate so I will call right back if no answer. Have a safe trip home

This is very kind of you to kept us with updates of your dad. This is a time when you are so busy with everything. Please continue to give him are thought and prayers. Thank you again Honey you are a good daughter. And you dad talks so proud of you. Your doing a great job. Stand tuff and know the Lord is holding you and all of your family in the palm of his loving hands. And are prayers are all sent your way.

Shawna thanks so much for the update ...I feel like the others..you must be avery good daughter and your very sweet to keep us updated...We are still praying for him ...I had to go out of town today..But i had to jump on the computer before i left to see if there were any news, glad he is improving, Maybe the leakage will clear up soon and the lung will inflate...(((HUGS))))
