I met a girl online last year who was going to have salt therapy in salt caves in Europe. Can't recall which country she was going to, but she lived in Germany. I haven't been in contact with her in ages, but still have her email address. I think I'll send her a note and see if she went to the caves. I bring this up because they are opening up one here in the States in Fla. Not sure what I think about it. I am such a skeptic. breathingclear.com/

AstraZeneca progressed the long acting beta(2) agonist into Phase II studies for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in August 2008. These three applications claim specific salt forms of three different long acting beta(2) agonists, all benzothiazolone derivatives. It would seem that one claims AZD-3199 whereas the other two claim backup compounds www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19563269Abstract The paper presents the results of using sylvinite speleotherapy, general salt baths and their combination in 120 patients with Stages I-II chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at a damped exacerbation and remission. It is shown that in the patients with this disease treated by the above procedures, the inflammatory process regresses, bronchial patency, central hemodynamics, exercise performance, and psychoemotional background improves and, during a long-term followup, the progression of the disease becomes slower, remissions prolong, exercise performance increases, and social adaptation improves www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18326207www.thesaltpipe.co.uk/history.htm

I 've read of people nebulizing with saline solution. I wonder if it's the same experience, well, similar.

Hi John, welcome to the forum. As you can see, we started talking about this last year, but it doesn't look like anyone has tried it. Have you been considering it yourself? Let us know how it goes if you do.

Just for what it's worth....I bought a salt pipe many years ago from Europe....used it once and thought I would die! I inhaled as you would our inhaled meds and guess you aren't supposed to do it so hard......I was terribly sick and never used it again........

Salt Therapy( Halotherapy - Dry salt aerosol) is really working for many conditions, COPD included. Be skeptic but do your own research as well.Google for testimonials, build your mind, give a try! I had my own problems many years ago, not more. Now I just opened my own salt cave in North Vancouver and already many people took advantage of this NATURAL CURE - with amazing results.

Don't know about caves or pipes, but last winter the NP gave me saline nebs.I keep them in the fridge (as instructed) and have found them to work well if I'm feeling a bit "croupy" and want to head things off.Very helpful too when the house is so dry in winter. Brian

I was using a netti pot with the saline. I seldom use it now since I found it left my nose very tender. I have the understanding that salt draws out moisture. I think that's what happened to the skin in my nose.
