You may remember my telling of my SIL's trip to the ER and overnight stay about a week and a half ago. He'd thought it was a heart attack, with several EKG's showing a problem, however the cathaterization showed no blockage. He was discharged with high cholesterol and h.blood pressure, and told to take an aspirin a day, eat right, and exercise. Apparently he woke up Sun. morning to blurriness in one of his eyes. It kept getting worse and they called the eye dr's emergency number. From the description and a couple of things he had Matt do while on the phone, the dr. didn't think it was serious and said to come in first thing Mon. AM. So he did. It wasn't the simple thing the dr. thought and he sent him to a retina specialist. Turns out he has Retinal Artery Occlusion and may, if he hasn't already, lose his eyesight in that eye. So they've just put him on another type of blood thinner and it's a wait and see thing. There is a laser treatment for some types/areas of the eye, but they're not sure yet if he's eligible for that. The 'kid' just turned 34, it's unusual for his age group, but not totally unheard of. I wonder if he'd been put on the 'real' blood thinner when he first went into the hospital maybe this wouldn't have happened. Unless it'd been coming and the meds wouldn't have had enough time to work. I don't know. It's just upsetting. There's always a what if? isn't there. For all of us. Corinne says it fluctuates during the day as to how blurry things look, from a dirty eye glass to dirtier, I guess.
I just feel awful for my SIL (and daughter) and would ask that you think of and pray for him. This could just be the tip of the ice burg, as they say.
Thanks, I know I can count on all of you. Sure seems like we are all needing special prayers lately. It's good to have each other in these times.
Sue

Thank you, everyone. I sent Corinne an email to let her know we're all praying for them. Matt's just had a rough time the last few years with work and now this. But they have a good attitude and will pull through this ok. Just hope it's a better outcome now that we've asked for help. Prayers work, I tell ya!

Susan; I am sorry to hear this. Chance of losing eyesight is really frightening. I sure hope he can get help. Will be praying for Matt, his family and you as this continues. You can only look back so far and so long and then focus forward.
