Attending a diabetic workshop I was given a very valuable resource book. The title is "Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions" published by the Bull Publishing Company, P.O. Box #1377, Boulder, Colorado, Zip 80306 phone 800-676-2855. Web site www.bullpub.com The ISBN #0-923521-87-9 Before you dismiss this book it is about 1/2 inch thick and about 8 1/2 by 11 in fairly large type. It is a self help book for those with Heart Disease, Arthritis, Diabetes, Asthma, Bronchitis, Emphysema etc. Any Chronic Condition. The first 2 chapters (25 pages) deal with disease self help and management. The whole book is about 325 pages all easy reading and in plain language. (Even I understood it) Of particular importance are pages 215 through 240 all about Chronic Lung Disease. I personally recommend this book for you to use and benefit from your own self management of your COPD. Hugz, bear.

Canadians may want to get the British Columbia edition while Americans may want the original. Just a little tip I got my book free of charge from the Canadian Diabetic Society when I joined their workshop. When Carol and I went to our Cardiac Rehabilitation final assessment on Wednesday the director of the program was reading this book. I asked him where he got his book and he said he had ordered it from the publisher. He was floored when I told him I got mine for nothing from the Diabetes Association. So try to get one from there first. Hugz, bear

Thanks Bear for the info. Sounds like a good read and I will probably get it. I have COPD but husband recently was dx'd with diabetes and he does have a Stent as result of blocked artery. He is working on other problems. Sure I can use it but I might lose my home if I bring one more book in to it. I just bought 4 pertaining to diabetes and I got the 'How Doctor Think' by Jerome Groopman. This book was referred by Adina and someone else as a very good read. I cannot get into it because the others are first. Here is a link if anyone wants to look at it. tinyurl.com/2p4mvdWhen all of the above started I was reading John MacArthur's 'The Truth War' but that is on hold along with about 15 other books. tinyurl.com/yqq6zkI never seem to finish a book anymore. Thanks for the post.
