I can only hope that the method of delivery of our meds will improve each year. When getting a shot, I know I'm getting all the medication but when using an inhaler even with my spacer, I never really know if I've gotten it all or if some of it has ended up in the back of my throat or on my tongue...Joyce

Joyce, I am still reading thru this article that Martha posted. I want to understand it. Especially so, since my new Symbicort seems to really be working.
Some of the people who have known me longer know that I anxiously waited for Symbicort to come out in USA. I knew the way it was sold in other countries. I was expecting to use what is referred to as 400/12. That would be in lieu of my Advair 500/50. That is what others that I know use, or they use the 200/12 or 200/6.
However it came out in a MDI and the largest one is what I have and it is 160/4.5. I sure was disappointed. I wish my records were so good as yours are for pulmonary rehab. I didn't write down what goes on during the day. Some areas for sure I have recognized as better.
I am not saying it is huge but when you are severe any improvement is very welcome. I got a hair cut today and of course the woman that does mine has a station in the very back of the large shop. She and another lady we have gotten to know both commented on how much better I looked and carried myself. Then it dawned on me. More improvement. I get a haircut about every 8 weeks and by the time I walk to the back I have to get my breathing in order before she can put my head back to wash it. Today I stood and talked with her for a while and then sat down. Noticed it leaving rehab when I got into the car I was better and since being on it, I don't think I have used hardly any ventolin.
So far only 15 days of the Symbicort. I am almost sold that the delivery systems make a different. I have read enough of the article to think the newer ones must be improved.
I mark my TM usually at 4-5 for SOB and 12-13 for exertion level. Think I got right order. Never changes. Tuesday I marked it 4 and 12. I had been missing again and so only did 10 minutes the time before and thought I would do 12. I got to 10 and felt fine and did another 5. This is not me. I will make a better judgment after another 6 weeks or so. I could have walked more but that would be too much too soon.

Mary, I am so happy to hear about the Symbicort working so well for you. Keep us all updated. I have found that every little bit of improvement in any area helps. You are so good at reading all the information that comes out, and I need to read more. You know it must be working quite well when you find yourself not as SOB and holding yourself straighter and more upright. That's great and I'm so glad to hear that good news...Joyce
