Just returned from another 4 days of late summer VACation. Visited my home town (8 hour drive away), seen my blood realitives and during my short 3 day visit, I was told to visit my dear friend (who lives just down the road from my dad's home). If wondering, I've known my buddy Paul since I was age 16. A very dear friend who's helped me many times over. And, he was MC at my wedding - many, many years ago. Early this morning, I visited my buddy Paul and we both said our final good-byes. If wondering, he has inoperatable prostate cancer (been fighting it for 6 years) and the cancer has now spread to his bones. He's now got bone cancer flowing down one leg and its starting to flow down the other leg. During our 1 hour conversation, I will always remember the last words he said to me. Just before leaving his living room, he simply said, "thank you". It was a simple "thank you" for behing his friend. Yes. I will miss his friendship as well..... Perhaps some day, we'll meet again. Only time will tell.... Please raise a glass of wine with me... "To my buddy Paul... A simple Thank You" in return!!!! A man who will be missed by many....

True friendships are worth their weight in gold and it sounds like you've had a personal goldmine for a number of years. To your Buddy "Paul" Spike......
