Went and did all the testing in Seattle, of course the air quality sucks most of the time, but my sats were amazing while walking around over there. The doctor I spoke with said I was indeed a very good candidate and went through all the areas that are required and explained them well. He does not do the Vats only open chest, but he said he didn't feel the risks or recovery time were any less Vats than with Open Chest. His partner there does do the Vats so I'm guessing that is an option if I really insisted on it. He explained the recovery time and said why he felt one was not any better than the other but I don't remember all of what he said. I do have to deal with it in just a few weeks or I will have to redo a lot of testing and or they don't want you to take a chance and get sick as then I think they have more testing to do. He said the the death rate was at about 5% which is a little scary, but I guess there are risks in anything. Infections, pneumonia probably being in the top as I heard that mentioned more than other things. I really do have to think hard, pray a bit on it. I know its been a rough road thinking I wouldn't qualify then being sick and thought I wouldn't pass the bike excercise test, but did and now I have to make a decision.

Not an easy decision to make Arlene and ultimately it's got to come down to YOU and YOUR decision; no one else's. I hope you find the answer (actually I'm sure sure you will) and I wish you the very best getting there.

Hi Muffin. So glad to hear the good news that you, at least, can make a choice. I agree with the others that posted and especially Jackie. It is 'your' decision. Also, make the decision for the right reasons.
Best of luck to you with what you decide and I will be praying for you.
