Hi Jackie; I guess if the wait is your preference at this point, then I am happy for you. Guess that is all you can do for now. I have never shared everything I read and learn about cancer since we don’t have a lot of discussions on it. Maybe some points we should share since it is sure getting a lot of COPD members. Right off, I can think of at least 11 people that are dealing with this disease and 10 of them or spouses have COPD. I had a few articles that got my attention. Couple were about scans. I don’t have a lot of time right now to get things together. I did know about the CtScan vs. X-Rays. If you don’t want to get into this here just tell me. I do have a question if its ok. How does the Dr know that you have a new type of cancer. That would not show on the CTScan. I thought that was the job of the biopsy to confirm it is cancer and learn the type of cancer. I must be missing something. I also read the other day that a slow growing cancer might be developing for a couple years before even showing up. Don’t think I have read about "granulobes". I read so much about this stuff that I don’t want to read anymore than I feel I need to. I am so backlogged on reading. I feel like Joe and I are starting over. I am having to learn new drugs, etc. I will be getting the answer to you for what you asked me. Rest , get to feeling better and enjoy life thru some of this waiting period. Don’t just work.

Thanks for filling us in on your visit with the guru dr. Your head must be spinning with info when you leave his office, which is always why a 2nd person is the best thing. I didn't know you when you were going through the treatments the last time. I guess I could go back and read all about it so as to understand what is happening. If you are comfortable with waiting, then it is a good thing. I'm glad you are able to put it out of your mind for all that time, and I guess it's better than only 3 mos. of waiting. I don't think I'd be as strong as you are. Thanks for the info on the CAT scan vs Xray. With all the talk about how much radiation we are exposed to with CAT's, I just read something this week that said they aren't as bad as that one study made them out to be, and that they catch changes so early as to be life saving. Makes me less nervous about having one. Here is a little angel to keep by your side throughout the wait, even for life. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Sue

Jackie, I'm so pleased for you, a 6 month reprieve is wonderful. And the news is not as rough as it could have been. Glad you're getting over the hump with the 'bug', now you can rest easier and get to celebrate Christmas with ease. Bless you.

Just briefly for now ladies...... The way I see it I could sit and fret or put it outta my head till I'm closer.... I can't change anything and I don't wanna be worrying any more or any sooner than I have to. It's not being "brave or strong", just practical.... gotta keep my sanity if nothing else. casue the rest of me is falling apart . Sue you were mentioning radiation ..... there's different "doses" they use from what I understand for the scans... probably depends on what they're looking for. And; in reality, the machines are much better than they were years ago. So... very Low risk of having a scan VS high risk if you DO have cancer and you DON'T have a scan. Look at it as the lessor of 2 evils. (BTW; I didn't have radiation before as a treatment if that's what you were asking) Mary; not a problem and you're right..... there seems to be more and more incidence of LC cropping up.... or maybe.... they're just discovering it earlier thus folks are living longer etc and/or people talk about it more. Don't quote me on the term "granulobes" (just couldn't think of what he used) but it's just a matter of cancer "cells" floating around and not yet coming together sometimes..... they're best left alone. Re: new type of cancer vs old type. Perhaps I wasn't clear. I had two different types of lung cancer. The recurrence (as in maligancy or spread) from "them" is low becasue they did the lobectomy, plus the removal of some lymph nodes and the lymph nodes were clear In other words "those" cancers were localized.... These spots could be the same "type" (or different) but are "new" growths. Becasue I HAVE had LC (and kinda twice; just caught them at the same time) my risks re higher than the norm. As would Joe's be. He's HAD cancer so he's a higher risk, as is/was Linndie. I don't know if I'm being clear. (I'm usually not if I'm hungry) As for a biopsy.... you're right. BUT, and that's a big BUT for me becasue of what little I still have functioning.... frankly I'm not sure whether they could or would run the risk anyway. But; I don't know. Anyway; they can only do a needle biopsy (aspiration) if the nodules are large enough..... mine aren't yet. Thus we wait and have another Look See in 6 months then go from there. like I said..... I'll take the reprieve.

Now I don't think you could have explained things any clearer, jackie. Excellent. And I see now that there isn't anything they can do now, anyway, so your attitude is just where it should be, I'm proud of you. You might say it's not being brave or strong, and maybe it's just because I haven't been in your shoes and had your experiences, but I still say that's what you are. You've not slowed down in your quest to inform the world and change things in your country. You get knocked down and stand back up, straighter than ever.
I admire you and want to be like you when I grow up! Love ya woman!

Jackie, Thanks for the updates and explanations. I agree with the "practical" attitude of waiting till things get closer. I know it will crop up here and there, but at least you can take the time to heal in other aspects of you health.
Stay strong.

It's hard but try to put it out of your mind for now. Time enough later. Remember...we're with you.

____ Jackie, I hope this will work for food. ! I do need just a bit more to understand this right. It is important to me right now that I get this stuff right. If you rather I do this privately just let me know. I don't know how much to put here. Susan; Sometimes when you are in a spot, you do what you have to do. Sometimes, you have no choice. Unless you just want to lay down and bury your head. On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind growing up and being like Jackie. ;D Jackie, I still need to reply to your last message. Our last few days have been pretty bad. Today was really bad. I think we may be turning a corner tonight as Joe seems to be resting peacefully. As much as I dig and learn, I still have trouble with some of the terms. I never stay on one subject long enough to master it. You tell me if a ‘nodule’ and ‘lymph node’ are two different things. I assume they are. I thought the nodule is a new growth, whereas we all have 100’s of lymph nodes. If that is right, you are looking at a growth, whereas Joe has activity showing in a couple lymph nodes. Joe had the 2 lower lobes of his right lung removed and lymph nodes too. There was one that the surgeon could not get but it never looked like cancer. If the above is right, then I can see the difference now between the two treatments, yours and his. I read recently that some cancer won't show for long time. As for more cases of cancer, Joe keeps seeing more people in the offices, not just talking about it. Still that is a lot for me to know fighting cancer at one time. Maybe in the past years not so many mentioned it. Thanks and you are always in my prayers and Dave too.
