I thought you might want to know, so I'm passing this along. I'm so so sorry. all, it is with great sadness i write to you today.. Ellen had suffered COPD for many years and in may/june of this year was put on the Lung Transplant list, a call came from Toronto General Hosiptal, on the canadian thanksgiving day 11/12 october, that lungs were a suitable match and that Ellen would be going in to have a double lung transplant.. The operation went well and after 2 weeks of good progress Ellen was allowed to go home, many days followed of rehab, and exercises as well as bronchoscope's to check the lungs were doing ok, which they were.. However it is with great sadness that we had news today Ellen passed away at 2.45 am this morning from a stroke, my thoughts are with her family at this sad time and those who knew her knew what a strong and courageous women she was right to the end.. Please rest in peace free from pain now Ellen, you will always be in my heart..

Totally a shock. Cheryl I am so sorry for you and your friends family. I have lurked on here and not posted much for ever since Phil was here with us and I read Ellens posts many many times when she was one of the Assistance, I believe she was. She was such a sweatheart. Life is so unpredictable. She is in a good place and it is just her firends and family that have to learn to deal with the pain of losing her. Bless her, her family and friends. Love to you all Betty-NV

So very hard to believe! I saw her at TGH just before she got the call during my transplant assessment. Heard from her after and she was doing incredibly well. Was out of the hospital in record time; no probs. All I can do is cry and pray her spirit finds peace and rest after such a valient battle to live. Ellen, dear friend, fly free and forever breathe easy.

I must admit, I was totally shocked by this news.... I can only imagine how her family is reeling. She seemed to be progressing so darn well and I assumed another success was in the works! Ellen was a Co Administrator here for some time; she helped and welcomed a great many people to this forum and though she left awhile ago, she would ocassionally pop in. We had a few differences but that's all they were.... differences. I did, and I will, continue to truly miss her and I know many of you feel the same. To her family and friends; I am so very, very sorry for your loss; our hearts go out to you and we share in your sadness. Cheryl sent me Eleen's Obituary (Memorial) from the Oshawa Funeral Home if you would like to vist. (Thank you very much Cheryl) obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Ellen-Hodgson&lc=3774&pid=146770248&mid=4445630Also; I'm adding Ellen's signature and latest avatar here and the welcoming greeting she use to use because I will ultimately be printing all of these entries off to send to her family. In the event anyone would like to add anything, I'll not be mailing it until the end of the week. Ellen's Welcoming graphic to new Members of our Forum....Ellen's Signature & Avatar (Tag)

I write with shock and sadness after hearing of Ellen's passing. We were neighbours and friends. Anyone who knew Ellen, was a very lucky person to have even known her. She never quit. Arlene was kind enough to let me know while I was in Arizona.
Breathe easy kid, and save a spot for me.
With love and affection, Barry.

Virginia, so sweet of you to post this message. It is especially hard for families when they have a loss so close to the holidays. I have thought of the family a lot recently too. It is always difficult but so much harder. I am praying for her family.

I'm saddened to lose such an important and memorable member of this family. I am proud to have had contact with her....information, and many great laughs. I know in my heart that this lady did not lay down and go quietly...she was full of fire and life, and I'm sure she 'skidded in sideways'!! She was a real live wire and lived life!! Farewell for now, dear friend.
