I didn't quite know how to phrase this for a heading ....
As some of you know, Mark Mangus who so graciously answers your questions on our main website, is facing a current personal/family struggle with/for his daughter Kim.
I asked for his O.K. today to post/request your prayers.
Many of you know Mark and his qualifications. Many of you also know of his daughter's battles ... and successes!
Kim; (Mark and Kay's daughter) has CF. She's had 2 lung transpalnts. She (Kim) went for her 3rd year post transpant check up and there's major concern that she's in rejection.
Next week is her broncho and more..... Now; I won't profess to know or understand all the details (technically) of the testing etc that she'll undergo but what I do know is that this lady has gone through a lot and STILL managed to get through RT school. (following her Dad's vocation maybe as well?)
Anyway Mark's wife has been in St Louis during this; they (Mark and his wife) plan on switcing.... he's travelling there as of Monday....
So........
He gives a LOT to the COPD community; and it would be nice if, at this time, he could feel that his family is getting it back ten fold.... It's part of what we do isn't it? Support......
This is a family "totally" commited in so many ways....

Uploaded with ImageShack.usMark, candles are lit in prayer for your daughter, Kim. She has been through so much yet still is valiant and strong. We need more people like her in this world. I pray that she will be healed and be able to continue to spread her gifts to everyone. I also pray for you, your wife, and your family in that you receive comfort in the knowledge that Kim is being watched over and cared for, and peace as you go through this trying time.

Mark, it seems only yesterday that I was saying prayers for Kim as she was waiting for her 2nd set of lungs and through the miracle of a donor , she came through, fought her way back and used her kick ass determination to heal, go back to school and graduate. When I read this post my heart sank but I remember how many times you've told me to be positive and keep on fighting and so, at this time, I am using that positive energy to pray for Kim and your family; to hold you all in my thoughts and hope that all will be well.

Mark to you and you wife the best of results with your remarkable daughter, Kim. If we do indeed 'get back what we give' Kim will beat this stage too. Regards and, if possible, Happy Holidays.

Just to quickly update e'one...... I received an e from Mark today and part of it was as follows.......
"We received a 'partial' report on the pathology exam of Kim's bronchial tissue samples obtained during her bronchoscopy, indeed, the most important piece of news. Thankfully, (and as I fully expected) she is NOT in acute rejection. And, when they went back and looked at all of her FEV-1's for the tests preceeding that which in August, showed an FEV1 of 86%, they surmised that since most all previous ones were in the 60's, she may have had no significant change after all. The question remains: What about the August test that measured 86 %? Was it a fluke? Was it an erroneous measurement? That, we may never answer. They are still analyzing the tissues for signs of chronic rejection......"
Thank you everyone for your kind, healing thoughts and prayers.
What a way to go into the New Year!

Hate to throw a monkey wrench.... I really do.... but I got a note from Mark re: his daughter Kim. The test results might have been premature..... they're going to be starting a number of meds etc......
Anyway; I think what I'll do at this point, is invite Mark to share but only if he wants or can. So; for now; I'll leave it at that....
