Another little helpful hint I would like to pass on. Most of us COPD'ers get short of breath because we do not exhale enough air before we take another breath. This builds up carbon dioxide in the lungs and brings on shortness of breath. The hint today is to talk. Yes, I said talk. Why?? Because your vocal cords only work when you exhale air. Try talking while you inhale. It can not be done. So talk more, a lot more if necessary. Try to talk while you do your walking or try humming along to your MP player while working out and let me know if you notice a real difference. Hugz, as ever, carebear.

Bear I would be very happy if I could walk and talk, one or other . When we walk the dogs I manage well on the flat, can even speak a few words, a slight slope and I'm gasping, I find PLB (pursed lip breathing) the best answer, like your hint Bear it gets rid of carbon dioxide.
