AWWW.. sANDY, you sound very run down, I hope you feel better soon. Isn't it amazing how in spite of this copd/being sick we go on, we are fighters aren't we, and you are an example of that.It must be so hard to have Barry so far away, like you i don't like driving in the dark for long distance. It sounds like your Husband Barry is in agood hospital, hope he gets to come home soon, well and feeling better, I hope you feel better soon to, you sure don't need to be sick. I do not like hotel rooms, and staying alone i also prefer my own bed and house. Sandy, I hope you feel better soon and you have good breathing, and Barry gets well and gets to come home, thank goodness your neighbor helped carry in your 0-2. Be safe, rest well both of you get better. I have been thinking about you both. Love Linndie

I'm glad you're home safely Sandy..... like Barry; you're in the best place for now. So; I guess it's a matter of "wait" and see if they find anything or the next steps. You've had a stressful go of things then the drive home in the dark; well; let's just say you need to rest and recover yourself. Keeping you both in my and prayers... ......

Hi Sandy. I hope you are still sleeping, you sound as if a week of sleep would be great. I've been worried about you as you didn't feel right before Barry had his 'incident', and then when you said how far you have to drive, and knowing how much you HATE driving in the winter, esp. at dark, well, I was glad to hear you are home and safe. Did the ER give you anti's and pred? Make sure you are replenishing your body with all the fluids you've been missing during the day, too. You're used to sleeping with a humidifier, so I can imagine that made everything that much more difficult at the hotel. That was so nice of your neighbor to help you last night. What are you, 3 or 4 hours after me? I can never remember for sure. Sometimes I swear you never sleep, looking at the times you post. Hope you don't have to wait too long to hear what's going to be happening with Barry. I am glad he is feeling antsy, means he's feeling better. But, he's probably driving everyone nuts, too, Didn't help that the dr took a long weekend off. But Barry sounds like the type of guy who wants to get things done and not hang around. Once the initial scare was over, I'm sure Mert would be the same way. I am so glad you and Carolyn were able to connect. I'll bet she was like a light in the dark for you. It's nice to know there's somebody close to call if you need any help, and I'm sure Carolyn would be there in a second, knowing what a great person she is. Continued prayers, adding a chest infection to your list.

News update......They are keeping Barry. They did more tests this morning to try to find out where the pain actually came from...since it wasn't the heart. They should have the results later today. So, all my stressing about plugging in the car was for nothing. But, what did I know. At least they are thorough at that place...thank goodness. I was afraid he'd come home and it would happen again if he got the pain again.
So, hopefully, I'll sleep good....and nothing else will go wrong today.

Oh, I am confused then. I thought his heart stopped, and yet now they are saying it's not his heart? I hope you get some more answers soon. Isn't even my husband and I'm all worried for you.
I don't understand about plugging in the car, either. Must be something written at the Fence. I'm headed there next.

Well...Barry is on his way home. The pharmacist was in to see him and talked to him about taking Lipitor...a very small dose. It should not cause any side effects since it was so low. He can eat grapefruit etc. and shouldn't have any liver or muscle problems. The test showed a very little bit of plaque and this should take care of it.
The pain has still not been explained and they have no idea. The only explanation for his heart stopping was that since he has such a low tolerance to pain....yes, he does and his boss says even seeing someone else in pain he gets nauseous) The pain made him fearful and the only thing his heart could do to help was to stop. From what people have told me since that if the doctor had waited a few minutes his heart would likely have started again. But the doctor thumped him...no harm done tho.
Well, it's been scarey and I'm not certain how I feel about nothing being done but..that's the way it is I guess. He should be home for supper. The dog and I will be happy to have him home.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and concern.

When Barry got home from the hospital I read some of the reports he brought home. Had to look up a lot. What I found was this.....
The reports Barry brought home mention a "sinus brady' and a "sinus pause". (nothing to do with sinusitis). The heart has a sinus node and an AV node. The AV node is like the pacemaker of the heart. What I read only mentioned pauses of 2-3 secs. then the AV node will correct it. Barry's was 30 secs. which is why they gave him the thump on the chest. No explanation could be found for the pain however. What we know is all we may ever know. The body is a complex thing.

All I can say is Thank God!!! You can rest much better now, I am sure. Isn't it great that we have this tool to look up all the things you found in his papers? That must make you both feel much better too. Used to be we'd have to wait to see the dr the next time and ask questions and still walk away without an answer.
Will Barry return to work on Mon. or will he take a few days off? How strenuous is his job, I don't know what it is that he does for a living.
I am so happy this turned out the way it did. The best news ever!

He's going back to work on Monday. He used to be a grocery store manager years ago, then became a Class 1 truck driver delivering freight, moved to the loading dock and loaded instead of drove the trucks, then 3 yrs. ago became the freight truck dispatcher. It's sit down. They also have 2 oil/gas dispatchers. It's grown to be a pretty big family owned company over the years.

Sandy, rest and take things as easy as you can. As you said Barry is in the best place for him, now you have to take the time to care for yourself. Sleep well.

That is a good job to go back to, I won't worry about him doing heavy lifting, etc. I'll bet they'll be glad to see him!
