The forum was doing its' weekly backup and I couldb't post this last night. So, I sent an email to Jackie at COPD Canada. However, if she's off for the weekend she may not check her emails. I had to turn on the computer to check weather and hotels so thought I'd post a bit.
My hubby was sent to the University of Alberta heart institute about midnight last night. He was in great pain. They did an xray and blood test but it didn't show he was having a heart attack. But the doctor said until they knew better they were treating LIKE a heart attack. A few minutes after we got there and the doctor was assesing him his heart stopped. They brought him back. So it does have something to do with his heart.
I won't be around a computer for a while. I'll check in when I can. I'll be leaving for Edmonton in a few hours. It's -35C here now and I hate driving when it's this cold...but I don't have a choice. I have to call the hospital back since they were doing a shift change when I called. I'll know more in a little while.
Will you all pray with me? I don't know what I'd do if I lost him. Thank you all.

Uploaded with ImageShack.usOh Sandy, the candles are lit and I am right there beside you, both on your ride and while you sit and wait for good news. I think I know exactly how you feel and would never leave you alone. I pray the dr's can figure this out and correct the problem for Barry. You know how amazing medicine is now and what great things they are able to fix like new. Also sending this angel to stay by your and Barry's side to give you comfort: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Sue

I just read Sandy's e mail to me; then her post here...... did NOT sound good from the description of what had happened...
In her e she'd said, among other things, that they were airlifting him to the Mazankowski Institute at the U of A hospital.
I just spoke with her on the phone.... they were in the process of packing/loading her stuff into the car for the drive and the stay (hotel) She also said she'd just talked to the hospital and Barry was "resting comfortably" They still don't know anything.
I've a few phone calls to make yet....
Please hold them close, as I know you will........

Sandy I am so sorry to hear of Barry's trouble - but being at the Mazankowski Heart Institute at the U of A hospital here is Edmonton is just the best possible place for him right now. They will go to no ends to find out the problems. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. If there is anything I can do please feel free to contact me, I believe you have my number and my phone goes through to my cell when I am not home. I will be lighting candles for you tomorrow and asking for prayers in our time of concern.

Spoke with Sandy this am before she left for the hospital - Barry rested pretty well last night and things appear stable. They are not sure what happened but as Sandy says "it is the weekend" so tomorrow they will know more. Will BB after Sandy calls later today.

So good to hear your 'voice', Sandy. I am glad that things are much more calmer now and not so urgent. You've both been on my mind and in my prayers all day. Sleep well and know Barry is being well cared for.

Well Sandy; hopefully today you'll know something more "concrete" re: Barry. God lady; that must have been so scary for you both!!! Gotta tell ya though; when we spoke you sounded very much "in control" and here you were facing a couple hours drive.... My hat is off to you with the way you've been handling e'thing. I was also pleased to see that you had touched based with Carolyn and met up for coffee. Our thoughts and prayers will continue for you both..... Your friends here will be holding you close....

I'm home. I have to go to bed so can't post much. I'll tell you tho that Barry is fine and anxious to come home....but I left him there. Tomorrow the specialist that looks at the "electrical" parts of the heart will be back from his long weekend and will check him. Maybe tests, maybe pace maker. It better be something because I can't watch him 24hrs. a day to see if his heart is going to stop again. Even if they decide to do a pace maker it could be days before they actually do it. I couldn't stay there. The hotel room was SO dry and warm I'd wake up every hour to drink water. It wasn't my own bed either. He's okay and in the best place he can be for now so I came home to rest up. I'm sick too. the bad breathing I had turned REAL bad and phlegm was yellow. So, I after I left him this morning I went to their emergency. That's a story that will have to wait until tomorrow. The other story is how I had to drive home in the dark. So, I'm not in good shape. The neighbor brought the dog home and took the concentrator out of the car for me. Everything else will have to wait till tomorrow. My inhalers are near empty so need to go to drugstore first thing in the morning....not that I want to go out.
I will call after doctors make their rounds to see what they decided. More tomorrow. Goodnight.
