Today I would like to share my feelings about one of my best friends Hennie. She was on the transplant list for about 14 months, the last 3 months high urgent international. After being called to the hospital twice to find out the lungs were not okay, last night she got called to the hospital again and this morning she recieved two new lungs. The operation went realy well and fast, they were done in five and a half hour. She hasn't been on the heart-lung machine. Now she's taken to the IC. She was in such a bad state, using morphine several times a day, not being able to walk anymore. I am so very, very happy for her! I thougt it is also nice to share good news with you all!

Oh Anne.... what fabulous, fabulous news!!!! And TY for sharing it here with us. We all love successes, even if we don't actually "know" the person. It sounds like it ws a "just in time" almost situation. I'll send Sarah to help watch over her. Let's keep our and say a for her continued recovery!

Anneloes,
I am so very happy to read that uplifting story of Hennes. I hope she continues on her path to a very quick and steady recovery. I am told that you notice the difference as soon as you wake fully....sounds like this will be a very welcome thing for her.

Last night Hennie had a relapse, she is back on the artificial resperation for 60 %, and she is having problems with the breathing mask. And she is also very afraid and pannicking. She's got a lot of pain, and they would not give hera higher dose of morphine because that also influences the breathing. So they were going to give her an epidural against the pain. Het husband and sons are very worried of course, but the doctors said this was not really alarming. Hopefully she will soon be feeling better!!
I am keeping a kind of "diary" for her, to read later, including all the messages from the Dutch and the Canadian COPD forum. I'm sure she will love to see it all as soon as she is able to.

Ah, Dear Hennie, do not fear but place yourself in the hands of the One who will lead you to safety. It will be alright. I can only imagine how fearful Hennie must be, Annie, and am so glad there are so many to pray for her. She is very fortunate to have a friend such as you. I am sending an angel to watch over all of you. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Sue

A short update about my friend Hennie, I haven't been feeling very well myself so I'll keep it short but wanted to inform you. On march 29th the doctors had to operate her again because there was a leak at the attachement of the left lung. That, of course was a major set back and very frightfull for Hennie and her family. However, since then slowely every day ther's a little aprovement. She's is still on the artificial resperation, but only to support her for the main part she's breathing herself. Yesterday she has been out of bed, sitting in a chair for half an hour. She's such a strong woman!! I'm realy proud of her!!

I just heard they're going to place a tracheotomy (a tube placed in the trachea through a little hole in the neck). At least she will be able to talk again then. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed again, hope and pray it will work out allright!

Praying for many blessings to your friend, Hennie, Annie. I can only imagine how difficult this has been for her. She really is a brave woman.
I hope you are feeling better yourself real soon. Is it a cold or just that time of year when things seem to be harder every year?
