Mary Cunningham is the administrator of our new Caregiver's forum. For those of you who aren't aware, Mary was one of the first registered members of CCPN (COPD Canada Patient Network). She was the caregiver to her hubby Doug who had COPD. Doug passed away a couple of years ago and in time Mary found her way back and "reconnected" with us and; she took on the new forum. Currently she's in Kentucky. Her father is dying of cancer. Mary is doing her shift watches as well trying to keep him as comfortable as possible with various drugs that need to be administered. I suspect it won't be long (at least I hope it won't) and I further hope his passing is as smooth as possible. This is particularly difficult for her. She went through it with her hubby, now it's her dad. I can only imagine the memories and degree of anguish this would bring for her. Please say a prayer for her father that his passing is swift and w/o discomfort of any type and a prayer for Mary and her family that they stay strong while they weather this journey.

I am praying for you and your father, Mary. Peace and comfort for both of you. It's one of the hardest times of a child's life, especially for ones who are close. God bless you and all of your family.

Dear Mary, you, your father and family are in my prayers. I pray for strenght and courage in this very difficult time. My prayer I like to pray is call A One Word Prayer I would like to pass onto you.
I just breathe the name of Jesus, when my heart is filled with fear. And though I cannot see His face, I know that He is near. When I whisper "Jesus" softly I'm admitting I'm in need. By calling out that precious name, my stress-bound soul is freed. It's a one-word prayer I utter when I'm not sure what to pray. It's a prayer of sweet surrender when I'm weary of "my way." I pray "Jesus" when I'm worried or when I am feeling all alone. I say "Jesus" when my mind's confused or when my life's a mess. It's a prayer He always answers as He gives me eyes to see evidences of His presence and His tender love for me.
May God Bless you, and wrap His arms around you and your Father, may He hold you both close to himself and give you peace and reassurence.

Thanks to everyone for their prayers and heat-felt thoughts. Jackie, little did you know the morning you posted this was the day my dad passed away around noon. Olga, what a beautiful prayer you offered.....and it's so true. So many times, we don't have the words to say and we can only groan or whisper. To everyone else, thank you for lifting me up.
I'm back in Ontario now and trying to get back into the swing of things with the caregivers forum. If any of you here have, or know, a caregiver, we would love to have them join us there.
Hugs,
Mary
