My apologies to everyone for my not updating you yesterday on Phil after I visited. (I was very busy plus it was my stepdaughter’s last day here with us)
First; Phil’s in great spirits. ( His wife Pat and a couple of other relatives were also there at the same time; undoubtedly spoiling him) Actually they’re probably in competition with the nurses in that regard. (spoiling) He’s upbeat, talkative, sitting up and eating normally. He’s on 2 mg of morphine to relax his breathing and it’s helping tremendously. It appears they’ve also been using him as a form of “teaching” or “training” subject.
He had the CT scan; not a lot has changed; the chest tube is still in. His lung is about 90% re-inflated; they check it daily. They’re going to hold off on physically “doing” anything and hope that it seals in the next 5 days or so. If it doesn’t, (and forgive me but I’m unsure of the term); they’re going to go in and take a look see (endoscopic I think he said) , then decide what’s to be done from there. It’s minimally invasive and low risk. He’ll be awake.
Anyway; he and I had a GREAT conversation about many things. There’s something he wanted me to mention re: the morphine treatment but; I told him no; he can do a write up on it etc when he gets home.
And; that’s the news. I’ll be going in again in a few days. If anything new transpires or changes, I’ll be sure and let e’one know. Meanwhile; let’s leave the light on for him.
He sends his appreciation and love for your many kindnesses and prayers. So; on behalf of Phil, his family, and myself…..Thank You.
Jackie NS

Posting here~~ Just so Phil can see we all care about him and I want him to know two things. One is how grateful all of us are at his dedication and thoughtfulness in starting a forum just like this so us COPD'ers can visit, sit, have a coffee and chat for a while to catch our breaths. And the second is I want Phil to know that all of us send our prayers for him to get back up to his old speed and feeling like his old self again. All our best wishes for a speedy and full recovery Phil. Especially sending prayers from Whitby. See you soon, as ever, hugz, bear.

Thank you Jackie for the update. I'm so glad Phil is doing well and getting back to his perky self. I'll bet most of the training students are young women -- Gee, I wonder if he likes that? lolol He continues to be in my thoughts and prayers. Get well soon Phil

I sure hope he keeps moving forward with this. I suppose he has enough family there to slow him down if he moves too fast. I know fast for him may be very slow but he needs very slow. Not sure he understands that word. ! Keep humming Phil and get back here and start decorating.
