My net connection is iffy; I'll be brief....
Neil and Priscilla could use our prayers and positive thoughts.
Currently Neil (Deetsk) has pneumonnia in his right lung. His CO2 levels are "extremely/dangerously" high. He's on his regular oxygen, Pred and an anti PLUS morphine to help with his breathing. As of today he's also under Palliative care; I believe Priscilla said that the Dr and nurse had been there today.
He's at home and I did speak with him and Priscilla. God love him; it was he who called me initially.
There's just the 2 of them and they don't live in a large metro area or anything.
Anyway; he does have the BiPap option etc but has chosen against it for now. I've reminded him/them about Bobbi (she was the 1st person that came to mind) that uses it nightly....
Anyway....... the bottom line is that they sure could use our support. I'll keep you abreast as best I can.

Good positive thoughts and many prayers for Deetsk and Priscilla. And I remember how much the bipap helped Bobbi..hope somebody is reading this and gets the message to you. Look at where Bobbi is compared to where she was a year and a half ago.

I'm pulling for you Deetsk and hoping you will get better soon. I wear a Bipap too at night, because of high CO2 in blood. It helps me and I sleep like a log. Try it and you'll see how much it'll help you.

I was reading here and saw the mention of the bipap. I have a bipap machine because of diagnosed with sleep apnea. However, I have been struggling with my breathing all year. I had been told previously, and reminded by my Pulmonary Dr a few months back, to use the bipap if I am having problems breathing.
In the past about the only option was the nebulizer. I will tell you I have reached for my bipap many times this year just to get my breathing under control. It took getting used to it for me but it sure is a big help now.
You would be wise to try it, if it was offered to you to use. I will have you both, Neil and Priscilla, in my prayers.

I was talking with Neil last night and he wanted me to pass on to you his many thanks. He thinks you're all "nice people" and was quite touched by your well wishes and on going support. He had been in and tried doing a post himself yesterday but..... it didn't get posted. On a further note....... he's read your BiPAP info/encouragement and it looks like he's considering it. I told him I would start a thread and hopefully those of you who use/used one at home will supply some additional information for him. I'm confident he'll be looking for it. It's in the COPD section ....... philns.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=questions&action=display&thread=7634Thank You

Priscilla called around dinner time last night...... this has been such an overwhelming couple of weeks for her/them. E'thing's been happening rather quickly. It makes it difficult to get into a routine or system but I'm sure things will level out for them soon.
The Palliative Dr. and nurse were in y'day; needless to say he was pretty tired and was sleeping when we spoke.
The good news is that there's no pneumonia in his lung now. The bad is that he's sometimes having bouts of being unable to catch his breath. So; they've upped his morphine a bit and told him to use his rescue puffer more often.
I don't think he's getting up much right now though I know when he and I talked the other day, he said he had been to go to the bathroom etc. I didn't ask her if he still was. He had also told me at that time that he was wanting to maybe have a notebook or IPad or something that he could use while he's in bed. I think that would be great if he did.
This is their first major exacerbation so combine that with the degree of his situation right now, well, it caught hem (especially Priscilla) offguard. She told me that she thinks "he knew" it was coming but she didn't.
Next week she's hoping to have someone come in to stay with him while she gets out for a bit and runs some errands. I also think she said something about a biPAP next week though it wasn't totally clear since she referred to it as a machine. I'm assuming BiPAP.
Although the Network will be sending them a card and perhaps we'll include your posts for them from here, if you want to send your own card or note just let me know and I'll gladly supply you their address.

There are all kinds of wonderful mysteries out there, one being your recovery. So happy to see you deetsk! Keep up the great work and you'll be back to yourself in no time. I know it feels like it'll never happen, but the next thing you know you're healed!
God Bless you and Priscilla,
Sue
