A number of you may already know this, and know MaryKy; BUT, in case you missed her update she was to have a PT scan today. I'm confident she won't mind my copying and pasting here.... It didn't go as we all hoped..... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Hi everybody. I guess it isn't in the cards for me to have a "cancer free" body! At least not for now. I have cancer in my lymph nodes on BOTH sides of my chest. I'm not so sure it was ever gone in the first place but I guess we can call this a recurrence. The doc was very sympathetic and encouraged me to follow thru with MORE Chemo. She said if it was her, she would GO FOR IT! She is telling me that this treatment is not as harsh as the first one I took. Believe it or not, the first thing I asked.... if I was going to lose what little hair I have AGAIN! She said 1/2 to 1/3 lose their hair again. Hoping I don't!!!!! You wouldn't believe how chilled you get with NO hair. I wear a cap to bed. The treatment plan is 5 days at 30 minutes each treatment. (I took my first one today) They leave the needle in for 3 of those days before I am stuck again. After this week, I won't have to go back for 3 weeks and do it again for 5 more days. After that, she scans me again to see if they have shrunk. I do have a few good points my way. The Pet Scan was from head to toe and there is nothing in my brain (literally, ) and no cancer in my bones or liver. I was thankful for that. Thank you all again for your prayers and friendship, it means a lot to have people care. Hi Jackie, I hope what I have posted doesn't hurt you in any way. Everyone is different with COPD and the same thing holds true for cancer. We BOTH can beat this no matter what the diagnosis. The nurse believes they are REALLY close to finding a cure and/or preventing it. She says the meds to fight lung cancer are NUMEROUS so there is always HOPE! Love and hugs for all.
