Thank you for your welcome, Cocojax! I am very happy to be here. You can feel pretty alone sometimes becuase some people just don't understand, or want to understand what we deal wth. I have really been going through a rough time this past year. I was diagnosed in November of 2006 and in January of 2007, had my first really bad bout and ended up in hospital for 5 days. I have a combination of Emphasyma, Asthma and Chronic Bronchitis that form my COPD. Last month, in September, I started on another bout but headed it off with Prednisone and my antibiotics. I was told you take them together - am I right? On Friday, I just loss my job so this has put a real tailspin on everything for me. I thought I was going to have to go to hospital Friday night for oxygen I was so, so stressed out but use my puffers like they were going out of style instead. I now have to start looking for a new job on Tuesday after the holiday weekend. My life is certainly proving to go downhill (at least to me). On the 29th I am set for a CT Scan. My specialist is concerned that I have a much larger component of emphasyma than they originallly thought and told me that she is thinking I may have to go on the lung transplant list. I just can't believe it. Has anyone ever had this experience? I don't know what to expect. I am 50 years old and never thought I would ever see my life take this direction. Oh well... Thank you for listening. It helps. Diana

Diana and Welcome! My name is Jackie aka Blossom. Not that I'm biased but I think you're in good company here. Sounds like you've had a really rough go of things lately. I hope you can still smile; even just a bit. I see you're 50, and from BC. I'm 53 from NS; have both E & CB. Coco (Ellen) who first greeted you just recently went for a transplant evaluation. You can see her post here philns.proboards46.com/index.cgi?board=questions&action=display&thread=1184369729 in the COPD Section re: Ellen's Transplant Journey (At least the evaluation) You'll find quite an assortment of people here; most living with COPD in some fashion or stage. Any questions re: COPD just head on over to the COPD Section (makes sense I guess); use the search tool if you're looking for something in particular, start a new thread if you have questions on anything. Check out the recipes, the general section...there's something for everyone at various times. Some of the "regulars" pop in for daily coffee or tea, others head over to the gym..... Whatever you're comfortable with is just fine with us Once Again....WELCOME!

Diana; Welcome to the group. I am sure you can find many answers to your questions here and also learn to live with the COPD. To answer your questions, yes you can take prednisone and antibiotics together. It is a good idea to not take them on an empty stomach. Some of us are more sensitive than others. If you are new to education of this disease we can also lead you in directions to learn a lot. Stress is to be avoided as much as possible. Not always possible but try. A group like this can also be very supportive emotionally too. As stated others do not always understand.
