In 2004, I was sent by my pcp at that time for a pft. It was done in a ante room next to the employee breakroom. The nebulizer didn't function properly and when I realized something was wrong, the gal giving me the test, didn't start me over with it. So consequently, it didn't show my asthma. In 2005, I saw a pulmonary doc and he sent me for a pft at a local hospital. Amazing difference. I'm was still dx'd severe, but it did show some reversibility. I am at FEV1 47%. When I was dx'd in 2005, it was FEV1 41%. Even though I had pneumonia in 2007, the FEV 47 was still better than my original number. I think proper med's and exercise are the key to improving one's FEV number. I wish I knew what the number would've been before pneumonia. I am a native Californian. I have one son and 3 grands. My biggest goal is to get moved to Roseburg, Oregon next year. The air is cleaner and it's a simpler way of life. I gave you a little peek into my life. Pat
