I received an e from MaryAZ; she wanted me to see what she had posted elsewhere and to say she wasn't sure if she should be posting updates etc here.
MaryAZ; you're a member here. Though this site is predominantly COPD, Cancer is a lung health issue. So; I'm carrying it over and posting what you wrote....
"We are a little overwhelmed with all there is to do. Of course, that means I am trying to do a lot of learning on the Internet.
I want to tell you that if I am not posting, I am just busy. If and when, we get on a more regular schedule, I should be able to resume posting more here. Don't worry.
Joe begins his Chemo (and think radiation at the same time) on Monday February 18th. Oncologists didn't want to wait any longer. Just hope everything gets done to get to that appointment. I will post more probably after that date if nothing comes up on all these additional tests: Blood Work, MRI Brain Scan, Bone Test (nuclear), Heart Stress Test (nuclear), Put Port In, Chemo class, Radiology appointment. It is hard to coordinate all this and 2 are not yet scheduled and hope they don't conflict.
The Oncologist yesterday was about the same as the Pulmonary Dr. The mass is in the RLL and we found out that both the lymph nodes affected are in the same general area and that is good. We just have to pray it doesn't show up in any of the other tests. The heart is still suspect to be the SOB cause and that might be a problem. I get the feeling that they want to really not go any longer without treatment. They still have to verify his PFT tests. I wonder about that because I think that goes back to 2006.
The oncologist said that surgery is not totally out of the question. Depending on how effective the chemo/radiation is, it might be an option. If it looks that way then would have Joe actually talk with a surgeon and see what he thought at that time. I hope I can learn more because I just may have to be the one on the phone to push some offices at times. I hope it won't be needed.
Thank you all so much. I am not sure where to post any updates. Someone might let me know. I don't know whether to put here or maybe in General Section.
Most of all, I want to thank you all for the thoughts and the prayers. They are so appreciated. I guess you really find out when you are at the receiving end. Cancer is new to us. I had an idea what MaryKY was going thru but not to the extent that I have seen now. I understand more why she said 'I wouldn't wish this on anyone'. I have not even seen near all yet."
MaryAZ; I'm not going to add anything other than to tell you that I pray for you two every day. Try to stay as rested as you can; you'll need it and remember to think about and deal with only one thing at a time otherwise you risk being overwhelmed.
Hang in there; soon (within all the preliminary madness) you will get into a routine.

Hi Mary---I can't express how sorry and sad I am that you and your husband are having to go through this. It sure doesn't seem fair and it isn't. I called my church and put you and your husband on the prayer list and am praying for you also myself. Prayers work and are powerful...there's no doubt about that in my mind. You are loved and cared for so much and you are such a giving person that it is time now for us to give to you and pray our hearts out and be here for you at all times. Much love, Joyce
