WELCOME Ortega! ...today is funny Friday....hope you don't think we're totally out there BUT we all need to laugh every once in awhile. So; Firday's the day we set aside for that.
Please feel free to jump in anywhere anytime on any topic. Some folks check in daily at the Fence (come pop in and have a coffee with us), or over at the gym....we all need exercise.
If there's a general interest item or COPD related issue you want to comment on or ask questions, by all means ask away. . Or start a thread on a topic of interest or concern to you. Whatever YOU are comfortable with. Folks are pretty friendly here.
My name's Jackie aka Blossom. I look forward to getting to know you!

Hi Ortega It was great to see your post at the Fence. Absolutely everyone is welcome here!! I'm a recent addition to this "Family' and can understand your shyness but there's just no such thing as an outsider at Copd Canada. Don't let the Canada part put you off. As you mentioned , there is a "core" of people who post regularly. These are the people who have kept the site up and running over the years. They do so 'cause they have been where we are now and want to be there for each other and for all of us , I believe. There has been a lot of focus , lately on encourageing newcomers to join in and to make us all feel "at home" That's why our administrators and moderators have been dedicating themselves to the new "chats" and why L inda brought us our new Guestmap. So people could feel free to interact with newfound friends. I'v been "bugging" our members [old and new] to put a pin on the map for the same reason. To try to let people see that we're Not exclusively Canadian or North American. Our disease knows no boundries and niether do we. We are not seperated by borders or oceans. We are joined by a common will to survive and to live our lives to the fullest. Everyone here has , at some time felt the diispair that you mention and know that it can be overcome . Just like the other obstacles we encounter along the way. I came across a pamphlet from the Lung Association that has become a comfort to me. ".........fear , anger , anxiety , depression , loneliness and frustration are as much part of COPD as breathlessness , fatigue , coughing and spitting. These words have helped me to confront my feelings and to recognize them as not being exclusive to me or any one of us. The kind , warm and knowledgable people here at our new "Home" have helped immensely. They have been here for me as they have for those who came before me and those who will follow. Please remember that you will never again walk alone , on this journey. LOVE and LIGHT ;D Welcome Sister ;D Bill W

the recent masthead poll reminded me of this thread I thought it might be a good time to bring it forward It expresses how many of us feel about our COPD family and the question of inclusion at this site
