Welcome Tee! Please feel free to jump in anywhere anytime on any topic. You'll find the water warm. Some folks check in daily at the Fence- it's open all the time... (come pop in and have a coffee with us), or If there's a general interest item or COPD related issue you want to comment on, share or ask questions, by all means ask away. Or start a thread on a topic of interest or concern to you. Whatever YOU are comfortable with. Don't worry about posting in the wrong area or anything; that's why we have great moderators who can move things or copy etc. There's a fair bit of information here and folks are pretty friendly and quite diversified when it comes to COPD; if they don't know something they'll point you in the right direction at the very least.I guarantee you'll be made to feel at home right away! If you've not yet joined our parent organization/ COPD Canada Patient Network, www.copdcanada.ca/sign_up.htm Please do. It's open to e'one internationally and it's Free. Membership has it's benefits! There's a lot we can learn and share together ... I hope in time you'll think of us here as a 2nd family. So; make yourself at home and get comfy! One last thing; you'll have to forgive us just a tad. One of our own (family member here) Bobbi is quite ill right now so if we're a little slow....like I said; please forgive us. My name's Jackie, aka Blossom. I look forward to getting to know you!

Welcome, Tee. We love new people! Don't be a stranger, but stop in and ask, or tell, away.

Hi All Thank you for the warm welcome, I was a lurker on your board before I signed up. My name is Tonya and most friends call me Tee. I am a 41 yr old married mother of 2 young adults that have flown the coop. I live on a horse farm in Alberta with my husband, 3 chihuahua's, 2 Quarter Horses, 2 miniature horses and a miniature donkey. After suffering breathing problems off and on most of my adult life from asthma AND YES I was a heavy smoker for 27 yrs up until a week ago. I started having really dizzy spells recently and went to the Dr. He told me it was a lack of oxygen in my blood and that I need to quit smoking now, and that I am at the begining stages of copd. I go tommorow to the hosp for pulminary tests. In the mean time he put me on prednisone for 5 days and spiriva - on top of my ventolin and advair which I never used. It was prescribed to me when I had pnumonia. Now after 2 weeks I feel worse than ever, I went from being short of breath when I did my chores and such to being short of breath all the time. SO today I stopped using the inhalers as I think they are actually making it MORE difficult to breathe so I will see how I feel in a couple days with out the inhalers. I am no longer suffering the dizzy spells. Anyway that is just a run down of who I am and what my medical situation is. I mostly came here so I could ask questions and not feel so alone and freaked out and to educate myself so I can continue to enjoy my family and my animals. I have a ton of questions for you all but for now just wanted to say and THANK YOU Tonya

Hi Tee just fire away with the ?s I too felt worse when I first quit smoking over 3 yrs ago . But today I wounder why I ever smoked . It's going to take some time to adjust to not smoking ,but that's the only way one can slow this Disease down to normal progression . There are many people here who are willing to share their stories with you You have come to the right place & try to remember ,you are not alone . Welcome to our family
