 CABLE, Philip James - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Philip James Cable, age 59, Lower Sackville, on June 7, 2007, in the VG Site, QEII, following a courageous battle with emphysema, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Fred and Pearl (Flemming) Cable. Philip is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Pat (Tattrie); daughters, Shawna (Adam), Lower Sackville; Sheri (Daryl) Gerrard, Lake Charlotte; son, Philip Terrance, Lower Sackville. He has left five beautiful grandsons, Justin, Bryson, Riley, Connor and Jacob. Phil has two surviving brothers, Paul (Connie), West Paradise; David, Halifax; six sisters, Clare (Jim) Spicer, Whitby, Ont.; Mary (Tom) Pottie, Halifax; Anne Marie (Lloyd) Brewer, Dartmouth; Judy (Claude) Chouinard, Cole Harbour; Madeleine de la Mothe, Halifax, and Angela Archer, Shelburne; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Bob) Clarke and Catherine Cable; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Philip took great pride in his involvement with the COPD Organization and was instrumental in the formation of COPD Canada website. His alternate breathing technique helped many fellow COPD sufferers and his words of wisdom with respect to this disease touched many worldwide. He was predeceased by brothers, Fred and Donald; sister, Doreen (Peter) Ronayne. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, June 9, and Sunday, June 10, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, June 11, in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, Lower Sackville. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Philip's memory man be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia. Special thanks to the nursing staff and physicians of 6A, VG Site, QEII, Cobequid Medical Staff, as well as his GP, Dr. Cindy Marshall and Dr. Calum MacParland.
