Welcome Anna!!! Please feel free to jump in anywhere anytime on any topic. You'll find the water warm. Some folks check in daily at the Fence- it's open all the time... (come pop in and have a coffee with us), or If there's a general interest item or COPD related issue you want to comment on, share or ask questions, by all means ask away. Remember; there's no "dumb questions" I mention because sometimes people are nervous about asking (they think e'one assumes they're suppose to know and that's not how it works) Learning is a process. Or start a thread on a topic of interest or concern to you. Whatever YOU are comfortable with. Don't worry about posting in the wrong area or anything; that's why we have great Admins who can move things or copy etc There's a fair bit of information here and folks are pretty friendly and quite diversified when it comes to COPD; if they don't know something they'll point you in the right direction at the very least.I guarantee you'll be made to feel at home right away! If you've not yet joined our parent organization/ COPD Canada Patient Network, www.copdcanada.ca/sign_up.htm Please consider it. It's open to e'one internationally and it's Free. Membership has it's benefits! There's a lot we can learn and share together ... I hope in time you'll think of us here as a 2nd family. So; make yourself at home and get comfy! My name's Jackie, aka Blossom. I look forward to getting to know you!

Thank you for the welcome messages. I wondered if there were any members who live in beautiful Nanaimo but maybe with all our lovely fresh sea air there are not too many. I will probably only lurk most of the time but occasionally will join in or ask a question. Anna

Hi Anna, Surprise - there is at least one other member in Nanaimo, and maybe up to three - not very active on the forum but they are there! Gwen and I live in Lake Cowichan, and I run a COPD Support Group in Duncan. You are most welcome to come visit - 2nd. Thurs each month at the disAbility Resource Center (now Cowichan Independat Living) on Coronation Ave in Duncan or you can contact me/us at 250-483-6507 WHEN we get back from our cruise at the end of March!

Hi Gwen: Thanks for reply. We used to have a Better Breathers club in Nanaimo but this was stopped a few years ago. I was originally diagnosed in Langley and there they have a pulmonary rehabilitation which is what we need here.
I hope you have a lovely cruise.
Anna
