Welcome CB! Please feel free to jump in anywhere anytime on any topic. You'll find the water warm. Some folks check in daily at the Fence- it's open all the time... (come pop in and have a coffee with us), or If there's a general interest item or COPD related issue you want to comment on, share or ask questions, by all means ask away. Or start a thread on a topic of interest or concern to you. Whatever YOU are comfortable with. Don't worry about posting in the wrong area or anything; that's why we have great Admins who can move things or copy etc There's a fair bit of information here and folks are pretty friendly and quite diversified when it comes to COPD; if they don't know something they'll point you in the right direction at the very least.I guarantee you'll be made to feel at home right away! If you've not yet joined our parent organization/ COPD Canada Patient Network, www.copdcanada.ca/sign_up.htm Please consider it. It's open to e'one internationally and it's Free. Membership has it's benefits! There's a lot we can learn and share together ... I hope in time you'll think of us here as a 2nd family. So; make yourself at home and get comfy! My name's Jackie, aka Blossom. I look forward to getting to know you!

hey thank you all for the welcome. I was diagnosed back in 2002 with COPD ( Firestone Clinic St Joe's Hospital Hamilton Ontario) but was given the impression it wasnt bad and after being put on Advair and Spiriva and the Respirologist was happy with my progress I was left on my own with the family Dr. Last year (2009) in early March I ended going to hospital via ambulance don't remember much but was out of it for 3 days. Wife says the Dr. there told her I wasn't coming back. I did come back after 3 days shocked the Dr. and nursing staff and I am still going still going. Went back to the Firestone Clinic to see Respir. Dr. and have been going there regularly. This past Oct. 2009 had the chance to participate in the in-patient Respitory Rehab. at St Joes for 6 weeks. Was very educational but and I say this because its the way I feel. After the Rehab and being home and all the info rolling around in my head it was a let down emotionally felt like I was all alone no support. Then again Canadian Heath Care what should I expect.Anyways with the wifes nudging and my lil will power I got back to exercising as per what was learned at Rehab. Then on internet found COPD Canada and joined and got the finger oximeter and been reading the newsletters. Finally thought I'd give this a try. I do have a question though when doing bike or treadmill do I go for endurance or speed? Any help would be greatly appriecieaited.

CB1950 when I was doing rehab, I was told we are not out finish 1st , just a steady finish. In other words go for endurance. I have severe emphysema also and I have let my rehab go by way side, but now that it is getting nice again, I must start walking again. Wishing you the best and please stay in touch with us. We have coffee everyday at the fence.
