My life partner of 49 years was diagnosed with copd in 2001 and has been on oxygen since Jan. 2006. She survived 65 days in the hospital in spring of 2008 and Dr.s talked of DNR after one episode in which ventilin mask pushed her out of control. ICU Bipap for week, cardiac ward another week during which another ventilin mask treatment pushed her out of control and a ICU nurse had to talk her down as she was not breathing and turning purple in face. Cardiac Dr. afterwards said she would not be coming home. She is at home with me more than two years later and we are currently in midst of another challenge with UTI after Shingles in face episode.
Anyway that is our story and hope it is alright if we join your group.

The more the merrier, Bob. You two have sure had your trials. Anything we can do to help out, we will. 49 yrs....WOW! Congratulations. May you be blessed with many more years together. It sounds like your's is the kind of marriage young couples dream of having. My husband and I have 37 together now.
