Thanks for the welcome! I have been involved with a family friend for a few months not fully understanding her condition. She was admitted to the hospital a week ago and that is when I learned that she is in the advanced stages of COPD. My mother and I have been caring for her, but were really not doing a good job since we didn't know her diagnosis. She is a wonderful lady that is on her own, she has no family, no one but us. To top things off, her husband unexpectantly passed away 3 months ago. She is grieving and dealing with failing health. I'm hoping to learn how we can help her improve the quality of her life again. She has a renewed hope for a more independent life and I'd love to help her achieve that.

Good for you anspoel to not only befriend this lady but wanting to learn about her disease and help her out! You've certainly come to the right place..... the folks here are compassionate, knowledgeable and if they don't know an answer, they'll send you off in the right direction. There's a lot of info here in the COPD Portal as well as our main website and a number of other good sites. So; whenever you're ready just jump right in! You can't get your feel wet by sanding on the shoreline.
