Uploaded with ImageShack.usGood to have you join the forum! I must admit I am curious about your name choice: are you tall or do you have the lungs of a tall girl, . Anyway, please feel free to ask away any questions you might have. And when/if you feel comfortable, join us at the Fence and get to know your fellow forum members. Sue

My goodness, thank you for the wonderful welcome. My name choice is due to the fact that I am 6' tall and when I went to have my testing done I had asked why they need to measure my height. The nurse told me that the taller you are the longer your lungs can be. It was funny and weird all in one. I'm still learning about COPD and have not had my appointment with my doctor to go over my results but with talking to the nurse and having the symptoms of COPD I feel like I'm in the right place. I'm very worried and frightened and mad at myself for smoking for many years. I quit on my own over months ago to better my life only to find this now happening to me. My emotions are mixed and with the support of this wonderful place maybe I can learn to not worry about what I did wrong and continue to a better road. I think the words no cure scare me the most. Thanks again for the wonderful welcome. I look forward to reading much of the boards.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I never new that about tall people's lungs and as I'm 5' 9",pretty tall, then it applies to me too. Yes, you're right, we can't change what has been written, but we can learn how to manage COPD and enjoy the future. There's no cure, but there are good treatments and medicines and more in the process and many more to be invented.
