It's my anniversary today. Not my wife's, not my kid's. Not my work. It's mine. All mine. Although, my family enjoys the many benefits of my current anniversary as well. Can you guess what my anniversary is???? It was 5 years ago that I stopped smoking. After smoking for 32 years @ 1-1.5 packs a day, I've been clean for 5 consecutive years. Many thanks to my family (for putting up with some emotional swings during the first 3 months). But most of all, many thanks to Rosemary (morningstar) - who believed I could stop smoking. Of all my friends and family, she was one of few who believed I could stop smoking. For those of you who don't know Rosemary (or her story), surf entire thread at: philns.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=obsolete&action=display&thread=3986If wondering, I'd love to smoke today. But, my body simply cannot take its collateral damage anymore. Every puff is like throwing rocks down an running engine intake. Thus, I choose to NOT smoke anymore. One of those "love to but can't do anymore" things in life choices. Hopefully, my 5 year anniversary inspires others to stop smoking as well…. Looking forward in hitting my next 10-15-20 years as a non-smoker... .

Congratulations, Spike! Quitting smoking isn't an easy feat to accomplish, I know. It's been about the same amount of time for me. Glad I quit, too. Keep up the good work, Judy missfortune
