Not too sure if I should post here or in the general discussion section. Here's the scope.....
For the last 4 weeks (while working on my deck at our seasonal camp site), I've got over 90% of my power tools, hand tools, nuts/bolts and boxes of screws "packed" inside our Safari van. Got tired of loading and unloading this stuff so I shoved the stuff under its seats, in its storage compartments and in its large rear storage area. Yes, our van sags a little (from this "extra" weight) but more noticeable, it now drives "like a tank". Slow, sluggish, poor brakes and is a "pig" on gas.
Due to soccer, hockey, music, cadets, etc. etc. every evening, I take one vehicle and my wife takes our other vehicle. The one who has to drive the furtherest away takes our smaller vehicle - to save gas cost. My wife had to take our "loaded down" Safari van a few times. After each run, my wife says our van is an old turtle with no brakes. It rolls sideways into the corner and rides like a solid axle horse & buggy wagon. She keeps saying if it costs us much more on gas (even for the little trips) and feels that rough, we need to "get rid of it". It isn't fun to drive and is costing us too much on gas... And yes, I agree with her. It really does "drive like a solid axle tank"
Guys.... If you want to get rid of your old vehicle, load up its trunk with tools, heavy boxes of screws/nails and thus, make it feel much worst then it is. After a while, the "boss" will allow you to trade the old klunker in for a new lighter, better mpg vehicle. Ladies.... If your vehicle feels like a weight down tank, don't look in the truck. Even 4 weeks later, my wife still hasn't open the back doors of our van. If she did, she'd discover my "portable shop". And, why I've been telling her to lock its doors for the last 4 weeks. LOL!!!!!
