I just saw this posted somewhere and darn...now I can't find who posted it. However, I searched the web and found this site. It seems to be the one the poster was talking about. Trials are being done across the ocean but nothing this side yet. Hope I can wait that long because it sounds good. Here's the link... www.aerist.com

That was quite interesting Sandy and that little video explaining it was very clear. Something tells me we talked about this in some fashion a year or two ago. (Or maybe it was coils) I had to checkle when they said the process is repeated for each diseased location. Heck; that would be what's left of my lungs . Maybe it was titled BLVRS? Something tell sme it may not have worked. Dang I can't remember. I didn't have a chance yet to follow up on a bit more, to see where things stood. I checked Gov Trials, here's a link, if anyone wants to explore what's happening a bit more and maybe fill us in (update) clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=aeris or maybe google under BLVR (watch the dates) to make sure it's current.

It did say the trials had been suspended in some cities. The website said updated March, 2012. maybe there are some glitches. In theory it sounds like it could work but maybe in practice it hasn't. I'm going to be keeping an eye on it tho.

Hi, just to comment that about 3-4 days ago, on the Spanish National television news, there was a small report on Aeriseal Lung sealant system saying that it was a new non-invasiv treatment for LVR. Couldn't believe it, but didn't say if it was now generally open to public. I did a bit of investigating and think they are still doing trials here and other places and more trials will come later. It seems to be the favourite system up to now, over and above stents, coils etc .

also came across this comment referring to the above, so sounds promising; (by a poster called Derrylynne) Yes it does work. A friend of mine with copd on O2 24/7 with FEV1 of less than 15% was sent to the Heath in Cardiff for the same procedure. As the Heath is only about 18 miles from me I went to visit John and his lovely wife, just a few days after the treatment and even then he found a vast improvement. I speak to John on Skype now, he lives in North Wales, and he has improved so much it has been a life changer. John is enjoying a new lease of life. His FEV1 is up to 31%, he now enjoys day trips out with his wife and family, and can stay off o2 for short periods. And John only had one lung treated with stents. He is due to go back to the Heath tomorrow for a check up, and is hoping they can get the funding to do the other lung. At the moment this is being funded by the Welsh Assembly for research at the Heath, with the few lucky worse case patients being treated. It has already been tested at the Royal Brompton in London. It is hoped that soon it will be rolled out for the whole country. Remember though, this is only likely to be offered to those with severe copd. Hope this clarifies some of your questions guys.

I read the article about the valves or stents I think they're by Olympus or where by Spiration. When I went to the nuemologist in July he had a big poster up in his surgery with the Aeirseal foam which is now being done here too. The trouble with the valve one is the cost for the Health System, so maybe it can be done privately here too.
