Hi all, I am Ann's sister Kathryn . I have a message from Ann. She is sure you will be wondering where she is due to her absence from the forum. Well, she was admitted to hospital last Tuesday due to another fall. Reports indicate that her falls are are due to something other than copd. Her May specialist appointment was fast tracked and she is undergoing tests under this doc's supervision. At this point we are hopeful the problem may be remedied with surgery.
On the copd front...it seems she has been remiss in the proper way to inhale her "puffers". No one took the time to before now to point out the purpose of taking them in the proper order or how to best do the shots and how to inhale to get the maximum benefit. We were all shocked as Ann has been on this medication for years.
I hoped I haven't overstepped any boundaries....said too much or too little. We hope to get test results byMonday and that Annabob will be back on line PDQ.

I'm Sorry to hear that, I hope they will pinpoint the problem and be able to fix same.

I have been hearing more and more complaints from people that they are not being instructed in how to use their puffers. I'm not sure if the Doc's. or the pharmacist's should be doing the instruction.
In my case both made sure I was using them correctly.

Ann's a lovely very kind lady and very supportive to the members here. AND; she's become family!!!

I don't want to comment on too much at this point, but it does seem she's had a problem since her initial fall (beyond her inhalers etc)

For now.......... please tell her we love her and we're looking forward to hearing from her direct , and/or through you.

I didn't get back in here till now to read this from her sister. I just a few minutes ago called and spoke to her hubby. He seems to think she may be out tomorrow if all goes well.

I called because I just realized she hadn't posted for a while. Prayers for you Ann.

Thank you for keeping us informed on what has happened to Anna. I am outraged that she was never instructed by her physician on how to use her medications. I am glad to note that she wasn't injured in the fall, though, that is a good thing. Hopefully they will get things straightened out for her and she'll be feeling much stronger and better. I hope the cause of the falls isn't serious.

Sending healing thoughts out to Anna.

Sadly many of us are not informed correctly. I was taught about the spiriva in my very 1stt pulmo office, but I learned last year that the way I was holding it was incorrect when inhaling.

Hopefully, she will be able to concentrate more on finding the source of imbalance (falls)

Talked to Ann's husband Bud again this morning. She's still in the hospital. They are still doing tests to find out why she falls. He had no idea when she'd be home. I told him I'd keep in touch. Nice man. We had a good visit. He used to work in this area in the 60's.

I just read this, I do hope that you get some answers soon Anna, and that the reasons for the falls will turn out to be a simple fix.
